Anyone on Savella?
That's about exactly what it feels like is old diet pills. Going to ease myself into taking them anyway. They gave me 2 intro packs so am going to start out just taking once a day. See how that works out.
Does Cymbalta help you? Sometimes I think the dr uses Fibro for me as an excuse to have me as his own personal guinea pig. I hate taking meds, especially ones that interfere with my normal body chemistry. Like zoloft, wellbutrin, effexor, and now savella to name a few. Pam

I hurt before having my surgery and still hurt. I believe that I would be in worse shape if I hadn't lost the weight I have.
My rheumatologist points out the effects of being obese on the joints. Think he forgets I was ever morbidly obese, or maybe he's telling me that all the yrs of being MO is a factor in the progress of the RA?
Speak to your surgeon, your PCP, ask questions and relate your fears and concerns to them.
Wish you the best in deciding, Pam

Thank you, I taking only 12.5 mg once a day to start i'm hoping my system will accept it. Weird but, I used to have to take stronger strengths of meds even antibiotics.
I haven't been able to take 5mg of flexeril or the trazadone. Felt utterly drugged on them like I was falling into a pit. If that makes sense?
I wonder if my body is metabolizing meds to fast? guess I need to ask that question to drs.

I have been on cymbalta for almost 2 years now. My current fibro ****tail is 3000mg of vicadin a day...skelaxin, depakote, celexa, amitriptilene, and I am pretty sure I am forgetting something. Anyhow, 2 months ago, my dr put me on savella....here was my experience..........
I have been holding off my weight pretty well....but when I got on the savella, I hated it....and I noticed a 17lb weight gain. 3 Weeks ago, my husband and I decided to have a baby...and I decided to quit ALL medications. I am doing well, and the weight is starting to pour off.
I think the excitement has helped me to get off meds. AND TRUST ME...i loved my vicadin. I could not live without it. But here I am...3 weeks free and clear. Anyhow, my suggestion to you is to ask your dr about depakote. From my personal experience, depakote helped me more than ANYTHING.
I wish you success with your fibro because I sincerely empathize with anyone who suffers with it. There are some days when I can not move.

Thank you for the info. I'll be watching the scale. My rheumatologist and pain management drs have started confering with eachother on best course of treatment for me. Now throw in an orthopedic surgeon I go to see tomorrow afternoon. I feel for everyone living with fibro, RA, osteo and all the other painfully debillitating diseases.
Best Wishes on making plans to start your family,

I have been on Savella since July 2009. It has saved my life! You have to start very slow with it. After about 6 weeks, I woke up one morning and didn't hurt quite so bad. The next week I got a little better and a little better. Somewhere in there I lost 10 pounds....I think just because I was able to move normally and didn'****ch out for moving too quickly. I was able to enjoy Taekwondo again. By January 2010, I was able to compete in a tournament and actually won in the Forms Competition. Six months before that, I would come home from work, get on the bed and fight to get up to do anything. Work was the only thing that I would do and I was struggling to get through the day. I do still take pain meds, but now they actually take most of the pain away. Last summer, they barely took the edge off. I had WLS 2 months ago, am down 50 pounds and feel great. I still have flares, but I would say that I'm 90% better. Not very many "down" days. My feet are my biggest problem. I've been diagnosed with Neuropathy and Joint Effusions in them. I would recommend staying on the Savella if you can. My Dr did tell me that not every one can take it. But I have done great on it. Good luck!
