Getting very depressed-tired of hurting
I've been having a rough time lately with the fibro pain. I ache all the time and it hurts to walk. My hands hurt so much I can't even open bottles or door knobs sometimes. I take Cymbalta for the fibro but am wondering if anyone takes another antidepressant in addition to they Cymbalta. I think I could get through the pain better if I wasn't so depressed. Thanks for your input.

Many of us have to take more than one drug for our fibro. Lots of us need a narcotic pain med. Myself I take a time release morphine plus oxycodone 4x a day besides my cymbalta. Depression does play a big part in the pain and it is kind of a catch 22 the more pain you have the more depressed we get and the more depressed you get the worse the pain is. See your doc and talk about other meds that may be added to the cymbalta. Sometimes you have to see an actual pain management doc to get results. Good luck!
Thanks so much for your reply. I may have to go to a pain managment doctor because my PCP typically will not give pain meds. I really don't understand why they won't give meds to people *****ally need them. It's very frustrating. The pain management clinic I called said that they had to have a referral from my PCP. I'm afraid he won't do that. I guess I need to make an appt to talk to him. I just wish they could understand the pain. I appreciated your input. I scan this board often and read your responses to other people. You do make a difference. Thanks again.

I also understand how you feel. Allot of my doctors tell me my pain is due to my weight. I used to be about 420lbs. I am now about 300. I lost allot of it due to being sick, and just recently had a panniculectomy to cut 20lbs off of my belly because it hanged so much. When I was 420 lbs, I was not in allot of pain. I laughed. I went out more. I actually had a life! Now, here I am allot thinner, and I feel lousy! And for the doc's to blame it on my weight??!!!!! I was feeling better at 420 than I am at 300! Andyou are also right about doc's not understanding pain! My PCP won't prescribe narcotics, and I am allergic to allot of pain meds. "Lose weight." is what they always say. Well, that's not something I can do within the next week or so, and I am in pain NOW. So how can you help me NOW so I can feel better to excersize more to lose weight? Doc's just don't understand! I agree with you whole heartedly!
Have you tried praying when you are in pain? I find that often helps me. I hope you find some relief soon. I will pray for you, too, ok?

Do you see the glass as half empty or half full? I say, what difference does it make--I paid for a full glass,so either way I am getting jipped!!!
Miss Kitty, thanks so much for your reply. It helps to talk to others who understand. I am so sorry you are having more trouble after losing weight. When you are overweight the doctors blame everything on our weight. It's so frustrating! I understand about the exercise too. It's hard to exercise when you hurt all over. I am a Christian and I do pray for relief often. It does help. Thanks so much for your prayers. I will be praying for you too. We just have to concentrate on our blessings.
Thanks again, Marsha
Thanks again, Marsha
I have Fibro, too. It has literally changed my life and turned it upside down. I can no longer work full-time and am single. I am not receiving SSD yet and am anticipating losing my case. I am also now in forclosure and losing the house that I've owned for 17 years. The pain can be absolutely debilitating! I am so sorry that you aren't getting cooperation from your PCP. It think it's time to find a new doctor!
I have to say that I have been taking Cymbalta for 5 years and added 400 mg of Lyrica which helped. In addition, I recently had been giving Oxycodone 10 mg every 6 hours. This helped, too. Just last week, I was given Tramadol to try. This is a non-addictive non-narcotic pain med. I am amazed. For me, I get 10 times the relief I did from the Oxycodone. So to recap, I would ask for Lyrica and Tramadol. Your doc may be more comfotable prescribing these as they are not narcotics.
I hope you feel better. It's really a tough condition that so many others just don't understand cuz we "look" fine.
Keep your chin up - better days do come around and we can be thankful that it's a disease that doesn't actually kill us. It may feel like it at times, but it won't.
Hugs,
Jennifer

I am so sorry about your financial situation. That is heartbreaking about your house. I hope your SSD will go through.
This certainly is a horrible condition and like you said, people just don't understand it.
Thanks for telling me about Tramadol. I will ask my PCP. I have tried Lyrica and it doesn't seem to help me.
Be good to yourself.

I know it is rough. In addition to Cymbalta your Dr. may be able to Prescribe Welbutrin. I am no longer on Cymbalta...It did not work for me. I am on Effexor XR and Welbutrin XL. I also take Lyrica two forms of morphine, Clonazepam, and Remeron for sleep. People who do not suffer from it...just do not understand. My Best to you. I am hoping that losing weight will help.
