I went with my neice this morning to the Bangor mall. I only walked into Sears about 100 ft shopped right there in the imediate area and back out. The cold just that long made my bad arm and neck just ache afterwards. The cold and our muscles is not good.
Which with the fibromyalgia ALL our muscles are affected.
How is all my fibro sisters??? My 63 rd Birthday is tomorrow. I am OLD.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAM! I know how you feel, I planned on being a much more active oldster but with the fibro and back problems it just ain't working out that way. Our weather has been unusually warm so winter hasn't been too bad so far. I'm very excited because I get the pin out of my toe from foot surgery and I've been stuck in bed for 6 weeks!! In Aug. I broke my leg and spent another 6 weeks in bed, so in the last 5 mos. I've spent 3 mos. in bed! Not as fun as it sounds. So Fri. I should be able to get up and walk again, I'm sooo looking forward to that because I recently got a darling ****er spaniel and look forward to walking her. Hope everyone else is doing well, gentle hugs to all!

Dear Hislady-

I am so sympathetic to your plight!

Two years ago, I dislocated and broke my ankle.  (8 weeks with my foot above my heart and in the cast from hell).

Last year, that ankle joint became so diseased, it had to be fused  (10 weeks with my foot above my heart and in the cast from hell).

Now I'm so fat and unfit, I am not moving very well.

However, there truly is light on the other side.  I think once we improve from the stress of the break and the anesthesia and the pain, life gets much, much better.

Hang in there and take it slowly.  After being in bed so long, you want to do everything that has fallen by the wayside.  Remember, you are really deconditioned.  But, slowly, but surely, you will improve.

I, too, just got a dog.  When I am anxious, I hold him and pet him.  It really helps---pain and anxiety.  Now, of course, this dog was for my special needs son.  I was NOT excited about him.  But, my son calls him his little brother and loves him so much.  When I see the bond they have, I am so glad we got him.  Now, I wasn't going to get attached.  Of course, I am in love.  The little stinkers really tug and the ole heart strings.  He is such a good companion.

Hang in there--you're at the bright end of the tunnel!  Good luck.

Thanks Nabby, people always say oh if I could just go to bed for a week or 2. However when it actually happens it really sucks! I'm so lucky I have an awesome hubby and he keeps house better than I do, so things shouldn't be too thrashed. I plan to take it slow and easy, take the doggie for some short walks and work my way up cause I know I'm super out of shape. I also have lung disease so I can't go very far or fast, one step at a time. Hope you have a wonderful birthday too!
