Looking for a good doctor in Houston that treats Fibromyalgia
I am pretty sure that I have had Fibromyalgia for a couple years now, but need a true diagnosis. My insurance changed this month and unfortunately I need to find a new dr. in Houston, Katy, Richmond, or Cypress TX that treats Fibromyalgia and recognizes it as a legitimate disease and possibly its connection with obesity surgery.
I had the RYN in 2000, lost 150lbs, but have gained about 100lb back. My insurance won’t consider a revision right now since I only have one co-morbity and I have not been over weight for at least 5 years – I’m going to have to wait until 2012. ..dumb, dumb, dumb…but anyway…..
I have been treated since 2008 for Restless Leg Syndrome, and can not take any of the RLS meds currently on the market – I have crazy side effects/reactions. So I’ve been on 60mg of Cymbalta – in the morning and 1200mg of Neuontin, 3mg Lunesta, 3 – 25mg of over the counter sleep meds, 2 Tylenol, and a super hot bath at night to help me sleep (this ****tail is not working any more). I still toss and turn, have night sweats, and although the body pain has subsided substantially since starting Cymbalta, the RLS is just as bad, if not worse. I’m at wits end. Any advice would be soooo appreciated.
Thanks all!

Have you tried finding a Rheumatologist. I had wls in 2004, was diagnosed finally with fibromyalgia since late 2007.. but that was after months of seeing both the neurologist and rhematologist for months- and doing every xray, ct scan, and mri possibly known to man seem like. I don't know how you're able to even stay awake with both Cymbalta and Neurontin, I take 600-900 a day and it makes me so tired, as well as the every day tylenol pm. I was really happy reading your post, not because of what you're going through, but sometimes it makes you take a deep breath when you find youre not going through it alone.
