I'm new here but have been reading all of your posts and have found them very helpful.
I have a question.
I will be have RNY gastric bypass within the next few months and I was wondering how all of you did with your exercising while having Fibro. Did Fibro improve with slowing increasing workout (low impact) OR were you not really able to work out at all after surgery?
Thanks in advance for any info :)

With any WLS I think exercise is crucial for success, we are just more challenged to get it done. Some of us can do limited exercise and others are barely able to move at all. We really have to learn our bodies and what they will be able to do without going overboard. I don't think anything really "improves" our fibro but exercise does keep us limber and helps the rest of our bodies like it would anyone else. Like everything else with fibro it's one day at a time.

I deal with Chronic pain including fibro. I've found that the exercise that works best for me is working out in the water. It's less impact on your body yet you can get the same work out as inside a gym. I try to make sure I'm in at least chest deep water so when I'm moving around I'm making sure there's as little impact on my body as possible. Water Aerobics is fun or you can do your own thing. It also keeps your Blood pressure from being to high while you're working out. It's been the ONLY thing I've been able to do as far as working out.

Is there any way that you might know how many cal. you burn with a 30mins water aerobics or doing your own thing? I've heard how good that is for us with FM...

Most classes are very simalar to indoor aerobics, I don't know exact calories burnt, but it's just as good of a workout. Doing your own thing it's up to you how you want to work out. just swimming alone is a great workout, you can do just about anything you want in the pool. Anything is better than nothing.

I will be done with all my requirments by March 22 and then just need to wait for Approval...only thing is i may be losing insurance by April 1 !!!!! I'm a little freaked about that.
