Thought It Would Go Away
August 15 2007 I had RNY and thought if just the weight would come off the fibro would go away. But no. I'm 5 foot tall and 120lbs and it is still there. In November I was in the hospital for 5 days and stomach pain tests showed nothing. What did happen is when they gave me narcotics the pain in my stomach made me double up over. No pain medication works. I'm set up for a colonoscopy on Monday and the day before scares me to death because I'm afraid the bloating from the cleaning out I have to do will cause so much pain that I'll just pass out. I still have some right side pain, pain in my ankle, I jerk and have electricity coming out of my fingers. I'm on 200 mg of lyrica and I think it is working but my stomach is still bloating and my belly button hurts. I don't want to have surgery any more. I've been opened five times for different things and I'm afraid no pain meds will work and I will be screaming again. I'm in Western Fl and can't find a good fibro doctor, can't sleep and know that tomorrow when I see the doctor he will want me off the lyrica, actually this guy wants to go naturally and dosen't believe in pain medication. I'm a mess today. I need to take it one day at a time but don't know what to do. Thats me Kathleen
First of all I'm so sorry you are having such a difficult time. Sounds like you need to find a rheumatologist or pain mangement clinic because most regular docs have little experience in dealing with fibro. Some don't even believe it exists! I can understand not wanting any more surguries, I've had 1-3 surgeries a year for the last 6 years and it does get old! I can tell you stress causes even more pain so do try to relax as much as you can. There are a multitude of pain meds out there which is why a pain clinic is much more helpful, so I would suggest you seek one out and see if they can't give you some help.
