Anyone heard of drinking surfactants for pain relief???
My mom bought a product to help with my fibro pain. It's supposed to improve the immune system. But the weird thing is that the main ingredient is surfactants...soap. It's 1.25 oz of concetrated surfactants with color and flavoring added. Add 8 drops to 8 oz of juice or water. I don't think I can name the product on here but has anyone heard of this? I have to say that about 5 hours of taking it yesterday I had terrible intestinal upset. I had a RNY in 2004...I don't think this product is safe. How do I tell my elderly mother that she just paid $88 for a bottle of plain soap?
First you should check with your pharmasist and see if you will have any drug interaction with any other meds you are taking, not to mention the fact that it may not be FDA approved almost always is a sure sign that it is a NO-NO. You could explain to her that it won't mix correctly with your other meds that you have to take. (once you have confirmed that). since you really don't know what it is, tell her you appreciate her help and thoughts on this, but it isn't good on your intestines and you would prefer to use items you are familiar with. Maybe she can get her money back. You have to be careful when taking meds with other "meds" in hopes of feeling better, you could actually have a reaction and get sick(er). Soap, no thank you. Hope you find this helpful. Ask your doctor or pharm about this and give that info to your mom. Kristy
