fibro flare and WLS trouble

Hi, I'm 2.5 years out and until this year I was doing fairly well. Now strange things in the last six months.  I feel as if I'm falling apart.  I've had fibro for 5 years but now no medication works.  When I lay down to sleep I twitch all night and jerk, I've formed MRI diagnosed tendonitis in my arms, my legs cramp, and if I take as much as a tylenol I jerk and twitch. My stomach has been hurting and the CTSCAN said I had two very small hernias near my belly button and two doctors says it's nothing but I can push them back in.  I think I"m going crazy.  I went this year from working as a womens minister, visiting hospitals and prisons, playing my guitar and singing to almost nothing.  I have an appointment for an endoscopy and a colonoscopy over the next three weeks.  I'm scared of the colonoscopy since I'm afraid I will cramp bad when I do the prep. I'm 54 years old and feel like my life is over at this point. It is four am and I'm up since when I rest I muscle twitch and jerk.  Thanks for listening.  Kathleen

It sounds as if you have a bad case of restless leg (and body) syndrome but I suppose they have already looked into that. Have you had a sleep study done? What I really wanted to tell you is that they are using different kids of colon cleansers than in the past. I have really terrible IBS -their 'lemon drink' did a good job job of prepping me for the colonoscopy but there was no cramping at all. I was very surprised as this was not at all like me. Good luck, Christine

Sounds like the jerking and twitching are from something other than fibro, but I can't guess what. I recently had a colonoscopy and it was a breeze. The "go lightly" I took for prep did indeed make me go but I didn't have any cramping with it, just a very good cleansing! I also had no after effects from the colonoscopy itself. I hope you have an easy time of it also!!! I would keep pushing your docs to figure out what is causing the twitching tho because like I said before that doesn't really sound like fibro. Some docs just chalk everything they can't figure out up to the fibro, it's an easy scapegoat! I do hope they can get you more comfortable, keep us posted on your progress.

Before I got Dx with Fibro, I remember twitching like that.  I think it is the nerves since they are super sensitive to touch, I think this is there way of crying out that something is wrong. Remember feeling like you have the flu and every nerve in your body hurts?  Well.....that's it. Sometimes, I still have them, only in my arms but that could also be the meds wearing off.  But either way, it is fibro related I believe.  I am still on the patch and Norco and at the end of the 2nd into the third day, I can start feeling the over sensitive nerves.  That is what Fibro is.  It isn't a muscle disorder, it is overly sensitive nerves that make those areas, which are the fiberious areas the 4 quads. (hips, left, right, shoulder, left, right).  I am can say more but it is a big mess, but starts with the nerves.

I had the jerking in bed years ago. I thought it was something with the nerves. Are you depressed or starting menapause??? I can remember feeling like that I am now 62. Seems like with me though my medicines have to be changed so many years. I sure hate to change med's too. You never know how you will react to any med's or combo of them. Good luck and let us know how your doing !!!

I have the twitching and jerking also.  I was diagnosed with Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. They can find out if you have it by doing a sleep study.  I also have muscle jerks when i am awake at times. Sometimes my stomach muscles contract. That makes my whole body jerk. There are medications that can be used to treat this illness. I take gabapentin. It is a medicine that is similar to Lyrica.

I was diagnosed with teneditis and brusasitis. I never had much faith in that diagnosis.  I have weird pains which are over my elbow joints and down my legs and arms. I have just decided not to try to find out why. I have been to differnt specialist to try to figure it out. They didn't give me any helpful information.

Good luck to you.  I hope that you find an answer and relief.
