Fibromyalgia and SS Disability
I maybe a little late replying, but in Idaho I applied for ssi and ssd due to fibro/ migraines/ head aches. It almost took a hearing with a judge but lawer had all my medicale papers and sent them in to a judge and he approved me with out seeing me. I lucked out there I guess, but it still went to a judge and all, 1.5 years of waiting and fighting for it. Keep the faith. If you can't work, then don't. We are the only ones who know our pains and struggles, so keep the faith, it will happen. Good luck and keep us up on it ok? thanks,
Tammi

I must be really one of the lucky ones. Because when I applied for SSD with fibromyalgia as the main reasoning, I was approved on the first try.
Now the thing is, I was brutally honest and held nothing back in the application. I told them how difficult this is, not just physically but mentally emotional. I gave them every gritty little detail. Plus the other issues that I have whi*****lude arthritis. I told them how even with medications I am so sleepy and groggy that I don't know when or how long I can stay awake.
So I'm praying for you, and i hope you get this

Thank you for your encouragement. I have been waiting and fighting for 3 years now and should get a hearing sometime this month. My sweet husband had been trying to make ends meet without my income and it had been so hard on both of us.
If I could work I would have gone LONG ago.
Thank you for your suggestions. I will keep everyone informed as to how this turns out.

I have heard of people being approved here in NM but only if you have osteoarthrits issues and fibromyalgia, both very well documented and of course everything you and your doctor have tried to keep you able to work. A co-worker got it in just 45 days even. And then I read stories like yours that make me scratch my head. And by the way, those "friends" you had dinner with? Sound like toxic relationships to me, which doesn't help with fibromyalgia at all. I think probably the single most important thing I've done for myself since RNY 4 years ago? Is realizing that I do not need to deal/put up with thoughtless toxic people who's only mission in life is to feel superior to me. But anyways, if your doctor's documentation for you is vague that will not help your case. And most people say they get denied the first time. Get a lawyer who will only collect if they win for you. They have to pay you retroactively if you get approved which is a nice chunk of cash:-) Hope this helps....
Bonni,
People can get SSDI for Fibromyalgia, but they must really prove to the SSA that they are unable to become gainfully employed in any capacity. You must get your doctors behind you, and you must save ALL medical records. I would also recommend utilizing a specialized Social Security Disability Attorney.

Fibromyalgia is one in a long list of things that is wrong with me. It took me 5 yrs...but I was finally approved. I contacted my State Represenetive on his web page was questions and problems with SS. I took my entire file with a cover letter to his office and was approved in less than 3 mos. And when they called to say I was approved there was a comment made about me being a friend of my State Reprsenetive, I got this suggestion from a friend whose husband kept getting denied. It worked for him also...someone else it worked for told them. My friend and I do not live in the same state. You might as well give it a try.
