Anybody take Nurontin for pain?

Went to the doc yesterday and she increased my celexa and added nurontin at bedtime to try and help with pain.  Anybody else tried this?  Does it work?

She also referred me to a neurologist to see if they can figure out how to help me.  We'll see.

I took it for quite awhile and it worked pretty well. I only switched because I was also dealing with horrible back pain too and it wasn't helping that. I switched to morphine 2x a day for the back pain and that also takes care of the fibro pain. Neurontin is a good drug drug because it doesn't have hardly any side effects and can be taken with other drugs without much problem from interactions. I hope it works well for you and you can also take some pretty big doses of it without problems.

I was on 600mg of Neurontin and it really helped me sleep, but I had a hard time waking up fully and I gained 10 pounds!
I guess I'm too vain, but I worked so hard to get this weight off and I quit taking it due to water retention.
Percocet and Nyquil seems to be the best ****tail for me right now.
If you don't have the weight gain side effect, or drowsiness, Neurontin is really great for Nerve pain.
Good Luck! (((hugs)))

Thanks for the feedback.  I am gaining weight now from the pain.  I eat to comfort, arghh!

I'll start it tonight and see how groggy I am in the morning.  I don't want to gain weight or swell, but I need to get this pain under control.

It sounds like it works, but could have some downfalls.  We'll see.  I'm scheduled for a neurologist and maybe that will help too.

I used Neurontin for years; until switching to Lyrica. I think my nightly dose of it was 150? 300? I forget. It made me soo groggy, but it worked great. Lyrica also works, but it's very expensive. So i do low doses of it woth darvocet. O, and amytriptyline. I have gained weight with lyrica, but idc. I love getting refreshed sleep. :+)

I take 300 mg of Neurontin (Gabapentin) 4 times a day for lumbar radicolopathy & fibromyalgia.  It never really made me groggy sleepy but after reading the other posts I understand why my feet have been swelling!  It has been helpful but I have gained about 20 lbs.  I really need it though for the tingling & numbness in my feet.
