Fibromyalgia clinic

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia June of 2008. This was after having large masses on both ovaries which I had removed along with both ovaries at the age of 35. Then in May of 2008 I was having chest pain so had a heart cath which was normal. So at this point I was morbidly obese at a weight of 295 I think. I have hypothyroidism since I had a thyroidectomy at age 15. Type 2 Diabetes, Gastritis, Sleep apnea and add a little depression with that lol Well finally doctor said I had fibromyalgia june of 2008 after going to her for chronic pain in my arms, hands, shoulders. hips and neck. I have always taken ibuprofen with relief. Because I do have some arthritis in knees and back. Well once she diagnosed me I didn't believe her. Thatsthe nurse that I am lol So I went to a rheumatologist who agreed with the diagnosis. And he took me off Lyrica that my doctor had put me on and started me on trazadone. And told me how I needed to eat! LOL Like I didn't know how I needed to eat. Since then I decided to have RNY and have lost 106lbs and the pain is there and probably worse than before. So the weight was not my problem! My insurqance wouldn't pay for Lrica anymore so my Doc put me on Neurontin which was a waste of time so Yesterday I started back on Lyrica! My doc also finaly gave me hydrocodone to take 3 times a day as needed. Then I have flexeril. I am on Lexapro 10mg a day and wonder maybe I should have that increased. But if the Lyrica doesn't work this time or makes me to start gaining weight I was thinking about going to this clinic which the link is above. The closest one ot me is cleveland. I was wondering if anyone else had went there or if it is a money making joke! I just want to be pain free for one day! Maybe I have to high of expectations...... Can't wait to here some responses to my post!

It appeares o be reputable, I recognize one of the docs from a book I read on fibro. With that said I personally would try to find a doc closer that will work with you if possible, just because it's easier to deal with a local doc. I took lyrica but it caused horrible weight gain, like I need any help in that area! I'm now on cymbalta and it's working great for now, quit often we have to change meds because we build up a tolerence.
Another thing to consider is quite often insurance companies don't cover these kind of holistic clinics so make sure they are a preferred provider or you could end up paying the whole bill. Best of luck to you!

There is a new drug that was released in February. It is called Savella. It is a wonderful med for fibro. I was one of the lucky ones to be in the trial studies. I put in the study just after being diagnoised and was on it for a year. The study ended along with the medication so my Dr put me on Lyrica and then Cymbalta after i complained of all the side effects.. (had just worked very hard at losing 100 pounds before the study ended.) with taking both of these i gained back almost 70 of the 100 pounds before the long term study came a long (1 yr later) Since being back on Savella, i have been able to function almost as if I dont have fibromyalgia at all. I would suggest asking your Dr about it. I will never take the Lyrica nor Cymbalta again, the side effects to me are worse than the FM pain and would gladly pay full price for the Savella. Im just thankful my insurance covers most of the cost.
I have included a link to a site that tells you more about the drug.
