I finally got my surgery date this morning. It will be the middle of Nov. I know  I can never have motrin or naproxen again but will I still be able to take my pain meds that have tylonel in them?

I know from reading here that the surgery doesnt help the fibro but will it help anything? The more I read, the more scared I become about going through all of this and nothing changing. I have to lose 200lbs and I certainly hope someone here can give me good news.

Hey Suzette,
I do bring you good news!
After having lost over 300 pounds, the energy level has def. increased in that regard.
I'm off all diabetic meds, blood pressure meds, and sleep apnea seems to have resolved!
In regards to the fibro pain.....in my case the weightloss has NOT helped w/ the pain I'm sorry to say.
There are many positives of this surgery as well as negitives.
You just have to weigh the benefits against the probable issues that may arise from RNY.
Only you can deside if it's for you honey.
huggs to you :)

Hello Suzette!

You are exactly where i was at a week ago!  I am not yet approved for surgery, but hope to be any day, and hope to have my surgery sometime in Nov.
i was having some of the same worries, and everyone here was very nice to try and put my fears at ease.

i finally came to my own conclusion, that i will be so much better off with the surgery.  I might still be in fibro pain, and have all the stuff that comes along with it, but the high bp, diabetes, sleep apnea, etc, will be taken care of, not to mention longer life span (hopefully), as well as being able to physically do so much more in life.

I am learning that it is a terrible syndrome to have to live with, but it could be so much worse, and i am hopeful that someday soon there will be more and new medicines or therapies to help us out!

Good luck!!
Karil

i am just trying to plan.
i found out this morning that my paperwork has not been submitted yet, and i thought it was submitted 2 weeks ago!  i am trying not to be bummed, but....
