new fibro patient...

Why would a fibro specialist want to run tests? You can't diagnose Fibro with tests other than what the other members mentioned. Tell your PCP or pain clinic doctor, (try to get into one of those) and tell them you want not need medicine. I use Fentanyl patch and Norco as a breakthrough med. This combo is good for me. You can't live with just taking Lyrica. These people don't understand how the pain is for us. If we find a med that works, but doesn't take all the "flu" like symptoms away, they won't bump our meds up. A pain clinic will though. Let us know what you are able to achieve with the docs. Best wishes to you.

You might as well start looking for a pain dr. now. I never answer posts here but I guess Im in a talkative mood. I started with my primary dr. He sent me to 3 different Rheumotologists for mths at a time each. It was my third Rheumy *****commended the pain clinic.
Ive been going there for the last 15 mths. I pretty much know what helps me now(NOT MUCH OF ANYTHING). Lyrica almost killed me. I went psyhco. I was getting worse and worse everyday until the day I decided to end it all. My sister called and told me to not take another step and call the dr. right then. Otherwise I wouldnt be here. Lyrica also put me into congestive heart failure.
Be very careful with the meds. Some are very powerful and most people get no relief. My massage therapist helps alot with the back and neck pain. Good luck. I would welcome you to the board but I wouldnt wish this disease on anyone.
My husband is actually being treated for Lyme's Disease, but I know that this doctor also treats Fibro. Dr's like this one don't come around often. My husband has been to all kinds of "specialists", but if you don't have "textbook" symptoms, they are not usually much help. After four months of treatment, my husband has had a real breakthrough in his symptoms. He has a new lease on life. He had given up because he did not feel like doing anything but laying on the sofa, and he's actually going Bass fishing in the morning (after spending the last few days mowing grass and cleaning up the yard). It's amazing the difference in him. This Dr.'s waiting room is full of people with encouraging stories.
