WLS and FM
The one thing losing weight has done for me at the doctors office is have them focus on the fibro and not on my weight being the issue. I hated that every time I would complain it was always "if you lose weight and exercise, it will get better." Now they see that losing weight has nothing to do with my pain and they have to actually try to figure out what to do to help me.
Though they haven't figured it out yet, I still think I feel better knowing that people don't look at me like I'm a lazy, fat person. They see me more as what is wrong with that lady. Why can't she do this stuff. It feels better mentally if nothing else I guess.

Thanks, Kristi, for checking on me. I am still not feeling well but I'm hanging in there.
I had my one-year checkup with Doc today. I am down 57 pounds and 3 pounds up from where I was 3 months ago. I talked about this with the doctor, he wants me to focus on my protein when I am hungry and avoid the carbs. I explained that I don't feel so good with the protein and he said to do it anyway.
I need to stay away from the comfort foods when I am in pain (which is all the time.)
I am walking with a cane the last few weeks. Keeping the faith that this too shall pass.

Hmmmm..........................what do your meals consist of? Losing 57 lbs with the RNY in a year, you need to step back and take a look at the big picture here. List what you eat and why (Your emotion) at the time you think you want to eat. You can always put chicken in the blender with a little chicken stock and eat it like that, a little soupy but moist. That way you are getting in your protein. Email me back with your daily eating habit. We will get to the bottom of this. LOL
Good thing I checked on you my friend.

HI,
Losing weight has nothing to do with the Fibro pain. That is a whole different Oprah. LOL The pain with Fibro is the soft tissues, like the muscles, tendons and ligaments. The joints aren't affected by the fibro, although losing weight does shift your body into a different position, say for walking, standing, etc. I thought I was just getting arthritis and it was my body shifting but then the last phase of fibro happened. I think the last phase to diagnois fibro is the flu like feeling and the creepy nerve feeling in our arms that we can't shake. That is how I would explain it to my doctor. I laid in bed for 3 months (after work) because I didn't know what was wrong and the Vicodin that they gave me for arthritis wasn't working, he had me taking one vicodin every 24 hrs. What a joke. I told my doctor he better get another job, because he isn't helping me and he made an oath to help sick people and I am sick and he isn't helping me. Three days later I received a letter that he is retiring. Funny, I know. I hope I didn't do it. LOL Kristy

I had VSG on 5-23-09 and I have FM... As for any flare ups or additional pain I am happy to announce that I did not experience any. There was the discomfort around the incisions as they bruised a little. I haven't had anything other than the normal pain associated with FM. I AM having difficulties with exercising though. Exercising has always caused me to have flare ups but I am seeing that with the weight loss (48 pounds now) It's getting easier. Hope this helps you!
