pain meds

My fibro dr has put me on ampitriplyan, of which I take at nite, but in the morning I feel a bit foggy but not to bad,
my question is weight gain with this med, has any one had any problems with this med?
I had RNY in mid March so I am a bit concerned,

My doctor put me on it too but I only took it a few days because it made me too groggy in the morning.  Not sure of the weight gain.

I was on Amitryptiline (sp?) for a couple of years. It did not cause me to gain weight. I've heard that others had some weight gain initially, but it leveled off after awhile. As for the fog in the mornings it should go away after awhile. So that should get better. It did for me.

Oh, on another note, Amitrytilin is an antidepressant, not a pain med. Or so I thought. My pcp said that it makes you sleep better, which makes the pain better. In theory. Didn't do that for me, but we're all so different......
