confused with meds
I have been taking Norco for about 3 months. My PCP prescribed the orginial prescription, I ran out of my pain meds and have been going back and forth with my pcp and my rheumatogolost to get a refill. Rhemy says pcp should prescribe and pcp says rhemy should, what is this about? Has anyone had these issues? I am on day 3 of no meds, is there a different kind of doctor I need to see? Any advise will be so helpful I really fill terrible and the stress isn't helping. Thanks! Katrina
See if you can get into a pain management clinic with your medical insurance. Tell your pcp that you are not getting any help and you need some right away. The rheumy doctor probably shouldn't be involved anyway. They don't like to give opiate meds, doctors are under the microscope when prescribing the narcotics. but one the other hand, pain clinic doctors are not affraid of the FDA. So tell you primary to refer you to a pain doctor and if there isn't one, tell him that is why you pay him the big bucks and if he is not willing to help threaten to go to the medical board if you have to. It might get ugly, but you have to fight to get what you want, It took me a lot of emails and complaining only to tell my doctor he is in the wrong field, since he made an oath to help people and he wasn't helping me and that I suggest he stop practicing. So he retired 3 days later. ahahaha, it wasn't from me, but I tell them they made an oath to help sick people and I am sick and I need your help. Tell them in a concerned, stern, but not rude. Hope this helps and let me know if I can help out further.

I have an appt. with a Pain Management Clinic this afternoon. Pain meds make a huge difference in the quality of my life, the past few days have been terrible, I haven't been able to do the things I enjoy like being outdoors in my garden, etc. I feel like I have been negelectd by my pcp and rhemy doctor, they should be ashamed of themselves for making me go through this. The same doctors that gave me this terrible diagnosis have left me on the wayside. I hope my visit goes well today and I will have some releif soon. Thanks again! Katrina
I agree with Kristy see a pain managment specialist they are trained in dealing with fibro and like she says they aren't afraid to Rx narcotics. If your PCP isn't helping I would either demand it or seek a new one. I'm very fortunate as mine is awesome, he believes life should be lived, not endured! Never give up, keep pushing for pain relief, there are great docs out there just keep looking!
Thank you for your suggestions! I will be on the phone this morning to get this worked out. I am really confused, I take my meds twice a day and they are the only ones to date that help me. I have tried many other meds. Its frustrating enough to have this, I was dianosied 1 1/2 years ago after years of pain, now all of a sudden no one wants to prescribe. Unbealivable! I will keep you all posted, thanks again, its nice to know I'm not alone. Katrina
Katrina,
You might have to try a lot of meds to treat the fibro pain. I was on Vicodin, Darvocet, Percocet and none of those took the flu like symptoms away. Now I use Cymbalta 60mg, Duragesic Fentanyl pain patch 25 mcg and Norco as a break through med. This combo works for me. Tell your pain dr that you want a combo meaning more than just one med. Most of us end up using narcotics they seem to work the best when put into a combo. take care.
