This was so bad I just had to tell you about it.

Just about all of you know I have been on the morphine now for close to I think a year. Well I got sick with the stomach flu and was not able to keep my meds down. So of course I went into a HUGE flare.
Well I was stubborn and did not want to go to the doc I thought I could wait it out. It got worst! So I would take my morphine, throw it up, take my pill, throw it up. TMI I know...
Well doing this I ran out of my meds 3 days BEFORE my refill was due. THIS IS WHERE IT GETS BAD. Ever been through with drawls? OMG I hope not!! I just thought it was the end of the flu bug till I spoke to my doc.
I was vomiting, fever, chills, sweats, restless, tired, insomnia, yawning, heart beating out of my chest, diarrhea, headache.....all in all I felt as if I was dying!!! BAD!!! all along thinking it was the flu. Well I had been out of my meds for 2 days and yesterday was the third. I had a appt to go see my doc and I had planned on explaining it to her. I felt dead! I do not call her and request early refills ever. It makes me feel like a junky ya know. So I waited on my appt. Yesterday morning they called and canceled!!!!! I panicked and said OHHHH HELLL NOOOOOO! So I spoke to the nurse and told her look I have the flu I cannot keep down my meds then I ran out blah blah blah. She kinda giggled and said hold on I am gonna let you speak to the doc.
Well my wonderful doc being the lady she is could not help but giggle. She said "honey you do not have the flu your silly butt has the with drawls!!" I said WHAT NO its only been 3 days. "she said Kimberly, honey come into the office and pic up these meds and I will add some phenegan to help your stomach, and NEVER wait three days when you get sick again OK?" I thought I was gonna cry I was so relieved. So I go in the office and she gives me a hug (I have known her a long time) and she goes "look at you, you are suffering why did you not call me?"
I felt about this tiny * !! and stupid!! Never once did I think "with drawls" I always thought that was for drug addicts!!

So that's my experience any of you ever went through anything like that???? Please tell me I am not the only goofy one here..LOL....

Not with my fibro meds but with percocet when I had a hip replacement a few years back. Thought I was gonna die but found a few old darvocet that helped me make it thru the weekend. Now I make good and sure I have a little stash of pills just in case! Even us normal folks get withdrawls without our meds and it only takes a few hours without them for it to start. We are both fortunate to have kind pain docs. I hope it never changes for either of us!!

I want off of it! I don't want to go through that again. It scared the hell out of me. I thought I was seriously dying. The way I got through it was vodka. I know that is bad but it was the only thing that would cut the pain. I was questioning my sanity there for a few.....
I felt like a junky wanting more. I called them so many times before I finally got through to them. I have an appointment monday and will be talking to her about weaning me off of them.

It just makes me even more scared about what will happen when me and the hubby has to PCS from this duty station ya know.
I am for sure going to build up my stash.....LOL.......

and you know the bad part was my pharmacist tried to give me a hard time when I went in cause it was 3 days early. I went off! I was like look my doc regulates my meds and knows how much I take and what my problems are. If you have a problem with refilling my meds call her!! She goes well do you mind me asking what all your taking them for? I said yes matter of fact I DO! She said well if you would tell me then we could probably help you better. I said no you probably could not. I said if you do not want to fill them give them back to me and I will go to your competitor. She goes NO NO that will not be a problem just let me call the doctor right guick to make sure she knows what is going on.
Nosey ass!! It made me so MAD and if I would not have needed them meds SO BADLY I would have walked out!!! BUT they are the only pharmacy that will fill them the same day the others have to order it......LOL......and now that I look back DAMN what would I have done if she would have gave them back......HAHA

Not to put down your doctor... but you should have spoken to the pharmacist about the medications and your medical issues.  They are really more up to speed on medications and the mixing of medication for the best result.

I understand that they way she came at you really upset you; but perhaps now that you have your medications and not on the defensive you could really talk to your pharmacist and see if they have any other ideas for your pain treatment.

Good luck!

The pharmacist here hardly ever talk to you. I see a pain specialist for the medication. I wasn't defensive because of the medication issue the woman is just nosy as all hell!!! She ALWAYS has an attitude too. I guess she feels safe in her job since her dad owns the place.
If there was another shop that carried my meds I would surely go there.........but they always have to order it and it takes forever!

Thanks for the reply though!!

Hi,
I haven't been on this forum for a while. Don't know why but anyway just wanted you to know that I went through a nosey pharmacist deal over my pain meds. My pain doc was experimenting with oxycontin and fentynl patches and the pharmacist really snotty said well what is your problem that you need all these powerful drugs. I told him well it is really none of your business as this is a board certified doctor who prescribed the meds but I have sever fibro and it is not managed right now so my pain is through the roof and I am willing to try everything. I told him you must not have pain of any kind to be asking me such a personal nosey question. He said he was not trying to be nosey and apologized to me. I told him that it was very unprofessional for him to grill me. I said that it was not like I got the script from the street it was from a well known doctor. Really irked me. They do not have the right to judge us. Our doctors know what they are doing.
Hugs,
Sharon

Yeah I went through much the same thing. The doctors office is just a few feet from the pharmacy. The pharmacist had the nerve to tell me that two of my drugs had an interaction and she had to check with my doctor. I told the woman that I had just walked out of the doctors office two minutes ago! I told her that she could put her head out of the drive through window and yell at the receptionist from here! Everyone in line got a good laugh! She quickly filled my prescriptions. The next visit with my Rheumy I told him about it. Of course he was a bit perturbed that a pusher was questioning his knowledge of me and my cir****tances. He said that next time he will call the pharmacist himself. Great man!
