Wow, Pain Management Center FAIL!

Today was my appointment at the pain management clinic. To begin with the doctor was running late. Like an hour late.

Then he gives me some BS about how fibro is pyschological. I came back at him with "I thought fibro was a non inflammatory condition of central nervous system sensitization believed to be caused by head trauma?"
He agreed, then huffed and puffed about how he didn't treat fibro, and fibro didn't need narcotics. Uh, dude? Who brought up the narcotics? YOU! I have been having really good success lately with muscle relaxants, and using vicoden for flares only. I was hoping you could help me with the following as per YOUR website

  • Acupuncture
  • Spinal Endoscopy
  • Biofeedback training
  • Group therapy
  • Counseling
  • Family counseling
  • Assertiveness training
  • Physical therapy (exercise and body mechanics training, hot massage, whirlpool, etc.)
  • Relaxation training and Stress Management

But no. He sent me back to my PCP saying he could do NOTHING for me. Total and complete waste of time. And lets not forget the highlights, when I mentioned that massage + stretch therapy + phsyical therapy was kind of expensive while I had no job (thinking he could prioritize one or two instead of all three?) he said and I quote! "Well my dear, thats not my fault that you have no money. I didn't even bring it up!"

I have been more degraded in my life by a doctor, but it has been a while. Major bummer. No help at all (such as directing me to a physical therapist who he likes, etc etc). And I have to pay for his time.

Dr. Wang at Hunterdon Medical Center in NJ is a big jerk, avoid him.

I would NOT pay his ass for NOTHING in the world!!! I would send his ass a letter copied to the better business bureau and the state license health board AND if he is part of a medical group I would copy the letter to the administrator of that group\hospital\clinic.
I would tell him he needs to go back to school to learn another form of bedside manor because you found his behavior to be that of a 2nd grade bully!
screw that man!! He should be ashamed of himself! Please reconsider paying that bill because honestly you should not have to. Forward him the letter with a one dollar bill attached saying this is how much service you gave me and this is how much your getting paid! When he bills you contest it and DO NOT pay him for that ****ty treatment.
It burns my hide to be treated like that by doctors but I think every one of us fibro sufferers have been through it. I know I have. I had one up in SC he walked in the office asked me where it hurt and I told him everywhere. He took my pointer finger pulled popped the knuckle and  I said OW he said your sensitive to pain and your FAT. You need to diet and exercise and learn to deal with pain. Life is painful he said. My words to him was "you sorry sack of **** excuse for a doctor, I dare you to say that one more time and I hope and pray you do not expect to get paid for this visit because I am not paying you one red cent!" He told me no worries your insurance will pay me! HAHA I called tricare Right there in his office and told them what had happened and they DID NOT pay out to him. He had the nerve to send me a bill in the mail too. I send it back with a note attached saying I used his fee to pay for my diet and exercise.
DO NOT take his treatment. Turn him in to anyone who will listen. Do not let him treat like dirt!!

that's my 2cents.....

I'm so sorry you were treated that way, makes me appreciate mine even more. Don't let this bad experience cause you to give up tho, however do call your insurance co and file a complaint about him. If they get enough complaints he'll get tossed off their list. I don't remember if you've seen a rheumy or not, keep pushing with your PCP and MAKE him find you someone to treat you. If I was ever treated that way by another doc my PCP would come unglued. Maybe check the internet for docs in your area that treat fibro. I wish you the very best and hope we can be of some help to you!

Well excuse me BUT I thought they had physical proof now that Fibro does excist. I was reading that brain's of people that had it are different than those that do not.(Not to say we are not as smart) It was because of the way our brains dealt with pain the difference.
I was thinking while I was reading your posts. If ever it would have been NICE to have FIBRO be contagious and sneeze on him. That's the kind of people (sorry) I would enjoy having him have the pain and fatique!!! Ahh what a nice thought !!!!!

You seriously need to contact whom ever would be the medical board in your state. I would NOT pay either.
