Hi Jan!

Nice to meet you.  After I had surgery, I went into a major depression and had an extreme fibro flare that lasted for some time.  I believe that my extreme reaction to surgery was because I was experiencing grief over the loss of my dad.  It was very close to the first anniversary of his death when I had surgery.  So, yes, like you, I had terrible pain, I just think that grief played a big part in how long my flare lasted.

I've read that a few people on this board have had good luck with Cymbalta.  I think I will ask my Psychiatrist if I can try it.  Do you have depression?  And if so, does the Cymbalta help with your symptoms?

Hi Terry,
I'm sorry about your Dad. My Dad passed away in 1992 and my dear Mom passed away last year. I can totally understand your grief.
Cymbalta has helped my depression and my fibro.
Good luck to you,
Jan

Thanks, Jan, and I'm also sorry about your losses.  It is so hard to lose the ones we love.
I am definitely going to ask my doctor about the Cymbalta.  I don't know if he would be willing to change my meds as I've had some improvement from the meds I am on now.  I would just like to have less pain.  It would be great to be able to lessen the number of meds I take, trading 2 to 3 meds to take just one.
Have a great weekend!
Terry

ETA:  I did it again!  I posted on my husband's account!  I'm going to have to make sure that I'm signed in under my own account!
