hi everyone, just had my lap rny on monday march 2,2009. doing well post op,not as painful as expected. however, my fibromyalgia pain is worse, probably due to a couple of things. have been off motrin for a few weeks, and i usually take muscle relaxer soma for muscle pain, at least one dose at night, and they don't want me to use now, to let my pouch heal, and would prefer don't go back on. right now my muscles are so tight and painful. they did let me go back on my lyrica, which is starting to help a little. they want me to take only my liquid pain meds, and have been using more, due to more pain.  had been taking physical therapy preop due to pain and had to quit for a while. has anyone found  they can use meds post op without trouble to stomach, and if so, how long postop? would aprreciate any imput. thanks.  sincerely,  joann

You might ask the for Roxicet, it will work for a few months, as long as you need to take liquid meds. It is a pretty high narcotic pain reliever. I had RNY and know that I canno take anything with Ibuprophen ever again.. Lyrica made my ankles swell. I can and do take Cymbalta, it is more for nerve pain and works well for me.

Good luck
Sandy

I take Opana ER and Opana instant and Darvocet and Percocet for mine. We switch back and forth with the percs and darvs because my system gets use to them really fast.
Opana works wonderful though. I am actually getting a little bit of relief from it.
I still have major flares quiet often but well its not as bad since I have a med that will work with it.

Opana extended release is basically a synthetic form of morphine.
Works pretty good for me. I have the extended and the instant for break through pain along with darvocet and percs.between all four meds my pain stays under somewhat of control. I still hurt but I am given 120 of instant release for break through pain or for flare ups 30 darvocets or percocets cause we alternate them each month. Then 60 of the extended release to take 2 times a day.

Hi,

I would like to know more about this Opana I was on 1050/750 percocet's then for some reason my doctor decided she thought it was too much even thought its really not enough and now she has me on 5/350's. I'm now taking more pain meds than ever. I also take other stuff that I will post in the next post.
