OK where to start.....
Do you see a pain specialist or a rheumatologist (sp)
I recommend to everyone that has fibro to find a pain specialist. I am SO GLAD I found my pain specialist OMG she has to be one of the best docs I have ever found. Now she did not start out that way she was not listening to start with but then my husband had a talk with her about things. He was not rude to her or nothing like that but he could say what I wanted to say but could not find the words to use. I lose my words ALLOT.
I have tried just about everything med wise. I got good relief from a mix of ellaville and nuerontin. I took it for years then the effect wore off. That is one of the bad things about fibro, something that works for you now may not work for you later on and it works better if they swap it back and forth.
Right now I am on Opana extended release and Opana instant and darvocet and percocet. The darvocet and percs get swapped back and forth to ensure they keep working. So for a couple months I will get darvocet then the next couple months percs. It really works good that way cause my body gets use to taking them to often and it loses its power
Another thing I picked up after my weight loss surgery is YOGA.....OMG it feels so good!! Stretching all them muscles relieves a little of the pain. Just be careful cause it is so easy to throw yourself into a flare.
Along with that is heat therapy. Feels so good! What I do is I sit in my message chair its one of the gravity ones that you have to balance in and has a vibration thing in it that messages your back and legs then I put a heating pad behind my back and lay there for about an hour after I exercise.
Another one that will help is water aerobics in a heated pool! OMG the relief!!!
If you ever need to chat us over here on the fibro board we understand what your going through. We all are really good listeners.
Best wishes........and if you ever want to chat off the board feel free to PM me
thanks again!
As Pam said, some people/children have fibro but it has only recently become something that actually has a name for it. Dr's used to think it was 'all in your head'.. and now we have proven that yes it is in our head and allllll through our bodies and there are meds that work to enable us to exist .. in what state will be up to your med provider.
I go to a pain med clinic, get bi weekly trigger point massages, exercise (not a whole lot), take meds from my regular Dr. (my pain med Dr. knows EVERYTHING I take I don't go from one Dr. to another to get all that I can) and am now going to try something new with a Chiropractic Dr. who firmly believes that fibromyalgia is caused by the way that we do or do not utilize the Oxygen that our bodies intake I will definitely let you all know how this works when I try it.
The reason that I replied to your post was because after WLS meds that are time released usually don't work for us, they do not stay in our pouches long enough to get done what needs to be done, I do know that I read that or my dietitian said that.. will need to check and make sure.. but check with your Dr. before you get anything that is time released.. I know Ambien CR does not stay with me long enough to sleep more than 3 to 4 hours.
Hugs and stay well,
Sandy
