I apologise for not getting back to folks *****sponded to my post.  My work schedule has been nutso.
The post was not about me as I do not take narcotics for my fibro due to my job, it was about a family member whom I am very concerned with using oxycontin.
She uses it up, then goes through detox, then gets another script and uses that and the cycle continues.
I've thought about calling her doctor, as this is my sister and she is overusing the medication...in a sense abusing it.
She has horrific fibromyalgia just like me, and her physician won't give her anymore meds.
Thank you for your posts, I need to figure out a way to help her as she has small children, 3 under the age of 10.
Hugs to all...

I'm sorry to hear about your sister's situation.
I hope you dont mind me asking, but I noticed the list of plastic surgeries at the bottom of your posts.  Can you tell me if/how well your pain was managed after these surgeries??  Was it harder to manage because of the fibromyalgia??
I simply remember my favorite things..........and then I don't feeeeeel  sooooo baaaaaaddd!!

Donna,

I am so sorry about your sister. I have Fibro and so does she. She abuses her drugs all the time. It is against the law for you to call your sister's doctor up and discuss her case. Her doctor will only talk to you if you have a signed consent from your sister stating that it was okay for her doctor to talk to you. It is called HIPPA. I have had the same problem with my sister and when she goes off the deep end she will not sign a consent for us to talk to her doctor. It is like your between a rock and a hard place. So it is like we are done helping her and her children suffered for it but there was nothing we could do. We had her committed for 72 hours and she never forgave us for that one but her kids were happy about it because they knew there mom was getting some help. We had to go to see a judge and give him examples of what and how much drugs she was abusing. That is besides drinking booze. I wish you luck with your sister. That is just my 2 cents worth.
