opinions on fibro
I got a question for all of you that have Fibromyalgia...;....
My answers are below........Join in
How many of you have had fibro since you where a child? I have been suffering from Fibro since I was around 4-5 years old. I remember my step dad wrapping me in hot towels to try and ease the pain. He tried so hard to help and my mom always went against him to try and make it worse.
How far back can you remember having this horrid pain and did your parents help you by taking you to the doctor? I was taken to the doc when I was little on rare occasions. They where told I had growing pains, juvenile arthritis the beginning forms of MS, rheumatoid arthritis and this was all at the age of 4-10. Then it became it was the beginning of my body trying to cope with being bi-polar and coping with being tortured by my mother. Once they caught on to her she stopped taking me to get help so I was left to suffer.
How many of you have had it for only a couple of years? I do not believe you can "catch" it. I believe you are either born with it or your misdiagnosed.....That is only my opinion so please do not get mad at me for saying that. I mean no harm....
How many of you have been told you caught it by having an accident or some form of trauma? I was told that recently by a rheumatologist. I do not agree with him because I remember suffering from it as a child. I do not believe it is trauma induced...
OK that's my answers anyone want to join in??/? Please remember the answers above are my OPINIONS only. I am not judging any of you or trying to tell you you do not hurt they are just my opinions based on my past.....
1. I don't recall having any particular pains as a child maybe cause I was a rough and tumble tom boy type and got enough exercise that it didn't bother me then.
2.My earliest recollections of it were in high school when I just seemed to take longer than most to get over aches and pains. Parents didn't take me to docs for it but I didn't really complain about it cause I thought everybody must feel like this.
3.I'll combine 3 and 4 because I think it may be possible to have it be induced by a severe enough trauma because any trauma causes your whole system to go berserk. I don't think most cases are caused by that and I think you probably need to have a pre disposition to getting it. Some folks may be like I was and just figure that everybody feels that way until a trauma to the system makes it more noticable.
And for what ever reason we have it, it stinks! I guess God only gives it to those of us who are tough enough to handle it!
I think you might be right on #3 that most people who notice it later in life must have a predisposition to getting it. I think that makes alot of sense.
I was a tom boy when I was little but I was also a whiner.....LOL....still am if you ask my daddy!!!

Sweety I am so sorry you had to go through that!!! Plus have noone to help you deal and cope with the burden of it!!
I do think there is hope for you!! I think there is hope for all of us fibro people! You have to understand and believe that there is a man out there that will not hurt you. Once I let go of my fear I met the man of my dreams. I went from being abused at home to being abused in my first marriage. I thought it was normal cause hell I got it at home too.I stood up one day and said enough is enough. a year later I found my husband Dan and the rest is history. You will find that man you just got to have faith and open up a little. Trust me the man for you will NEVER hurt you. My husband will tear up in a second if he thinks he hurt me. You have to figure now this is a big STRONG burly macho soldier man!! That turns to jello if he thinks he hurt me. His heart is pure gold and I could not ask for a better man!! That same kind of man is out there for you but you have to let go of all the bad stuff first. I did that by seeing my shrink. I LOVE my shrink......LOL>......he is amazing!!!!
anyhooo I got to get my kids up for school. PM me lets talk ok??
Hello! I think I have had it my entire life, and the fond memories start with horrible headaches. my parent took me to MANY doctors and specialists....but I was not diagnosed until I was 17. I was SO happy that they had a NAME for what I had!! I had one tell my mother and I that I needed to see a therapist because it was all in my head. (Screw them, I knew It wasn't in my head..lol)
I had a bad car wreck when I was 16 that made things a lot worse...but that car wreck was the best thing that could have happened to me as far as a diagnosis. It made the doctors dig deeper and it was actually an orthodontist that first suspected I had it. Once we knew what it was, we (my family and I) could learn how to deal with it. I DO think I have had this for a very long time, but I also think it got a lot worse because of the car wreck.
