What type of WLS with Fibro

I wondered what most people with Fibro get as far as WLS? I know everyone's doctor is different. My doctor said he feels VSG (which is my first choice) was what he would choose for me.  He indicated that RNY would be his second choice for me.

I currently take

Lyrica 200 mgs X 2 a day
Cymbolta 60 mgs 1 X day
Percocet 1050 for flare ups

I had RNY I love my RNY too, my surgeon thought it would be the best one for me because he felt I would lose the most weight with it.
I currently take
Opana er 20 mg
Opana regular 5 mg
darvocet
remeron 30 mg
tryleptal 150 mg
seroquil 100 mg
celexa 40 mg
atenalol 50 mg and nexium 20 mg
I have tried lyrica and cymbalta with no help whatso ever
I was on percocet for along time but the effectivness wore off so she swapped me to opana. I am on top of having FM I am bi-polar and have PTSD.......
I tell you what I don't regret my WLS BUT I hurt MORE now then I ever did before my WLS. SO please go into this journey knowing that losing your weight will probably NOT help your pain at all. It does on the other hand help you get around better which is really good BUT it does not solve the pain issue.....
take care and I wish you pain free days.

I had lap band surgery and my doc didn't really seem to think one type was better than another as far as the fibro went. I imagine because the surgery won't do anything to help the fibro since it is a muscle disorder. Now it will surely help if you are having arthritis related pain by getting excess weight off it lessens the stress on your joints. It won't however ease the pain from the fibro. I take oxycodone and neuronton for my pain and try to move as much as possible because it does help with the pain.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I did remember hearing here before that it would help with my joints like my knee, but Fibro itself....stay Fibro. But hey, if I'm going to hurt I might as well hurt and at least be healthier in other aspects and not have so much weight on my joints.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia just a little over a year ago.  I had my RNY back in 2004.  I am currently in a drug study and hoping that the drug I am taking for the study gets put on the market for Fibro.  It totally works and I have had a pain free year.  I am worried when I go off the study that I will not be able to deal with my pain or find something that will ease it until the drug goes on the market.  I wouldn't trade my RNY though.  I did great with it.
