Plantar faciatis flaring bad ...

I have been plagued with plantar faciatis for at least 25 years now. Fortunately one foot only! I am flaring bad the past few days. This past autumn I had 2 cortisone shot sessions and now it is acting up again! I have worn orthodic inserts, had shots, do the exercises ... take meds. I am facing possible surgery on the foot. Over the years my ligaments have been damaged due to compensating for the PF.

I have been very stressed and the FMS & CFS are also flaring.

Anyone else dealing with PF? or had surgery for PF?

I had the shock wave treatments on mine and after a couple months Im painfree.  It worked for me but there are no guarantees with it.  It's a series of three treatments three weeks in a row.

Thank you! I think I would prefer that over surgery.

I have PF on my left foot.  It usually happens when I am trying to exercise n walk.  I went to a place called foot solutions one time and for 500 dollars I could have gotten inserts and chung shi shoes.  I didn't do it.  I have also since gotten diagnosed with restless leg syndrome and my PF has gotten much better!  I also prefer water aerobics to walking on land for exercise.  Another thing--I will never get a cortisone shot for the pain.  I am just not going to do it.  Temp. relief yes, but in reality, it makes more trouble than it is worth.

Magnesium is a natural restless leg supplement.  You might try that and see if things get better.

I will be happy with thighs that don't touch!

Thanks Nicole

Gosh when this flares it really flares! The foot is better but now it is the knee (same leg - right). I see my Rheumatologist in a few days. I will mention the magnesium to him. I am on so many meds I want to make sure there will not be a problem adding magnesium to the regimen

After doing all the conservative treatments for PF for about 1 1/2 years, the surgery was the BEST THING I could have done.  Surgery went well.  I ended up out of work for 3 weeks (doc originally said 2 weeks recovery but with my lupus, I was a little more slow to heal).  I haven't had a problem with that foot since (done 12/2004).  Now, my other foot is another issue...
