Pain Meds

I went back for my monthly check - after my fall on the tile floor in the bathroom 2 weeks ago that sent me to the ER; I have had a non stop flare up!  BOOOO!

So the doctor gave me an increase on the Fentanyl patch up to 75mcg every three days as well as the Zanaflex 4mg three times a day.

I hope that is the ticket and I can be on this without too much nausea.  I have lost 30lbs in the last three months from being on the pain patch (no appetite).

Soft hugs to all.

Hi Emily,

I take 75mcg's of Fentanyl myself. I did not know it can take your appeitite away. I always have a appetite. I wi**** do that for me. What is Zanaflex for ? I have fibro and cfs.

The Zanaflex is for Fibromyalgia... it is WONDERFUL... I think that helps me more than the patch.

It is a muscle relaxer mixed with a pain medication ... look it up online - there is much information..

I take 4mg 3 times a day...

Thanks!

Emily,

Thanks for the advice on the Zanaflex. I am going to ask my fibro doctor to order it for me.

Thanks to everyone who's posted on this topic and included the specific medications they've found helpful.  I was recently diagnosed and we're having a hard time find a medication that works anywhere nearly as well as NSAID's to deal with my chronic pain issues.

You need to see a Rhumetologist (sp?)
They handle the fibro pain, then ask them to send you to see a pain specialist. That has helped me the most out of all of my docs. My pain doc is a anethisiologist (sp?) and knows the ins and outs of pain managment and WOW she has helped sooooo much!! All the other docs are pretty clueless when it comes to managing the fibro pain. Good luck and I hope you find some relief soon.....

I go to a pain treatment center.  All other doctors dont do much for pain because they just don't! My rhemo doctor said pain meds don't help fibro... I DISAGREE!

I totally disagree too! My other docs always said narcotics does nothing for fibro. I be damned if the Opana an darvocet and oxycodone don't help mine. They all three are narcotics. The opana is the good one it is like a synthetic morphine is how they described it to me. I am not sure how to explain it other then it helps the pain go away! Thats all I wanted!!
I hope you find some help soon!
