Hi you all,
I was wondering if we could all compare meds. What all pain meds do you take? I have a sensitivity to most pain meds that make me itch like crazy!! The doc says it is something if I want relief from the pain that I just have to learn to live with.
I was thinking of requesting a pain pump, ya know the kind they insert into your spine, but have been told I am to young, so any of you have one?
here is what I take for pain....
Opana ER 2 x a day
oxycodone as needed
darvocet as needed
since taking the Opana I have only needed to take a oxycodone and a darvocet once. So it is working pretty good I think. I had RNY 7-31-08 and have dropped 43 lbs and feel a little better I am hoping to drop alot more and feel LOTS better. I am fighting my disiabilty it would help so much if I could finally get it. I have had fibro for as long as I can remember. Shoot longer then they have known it was fibro. My dad use to wrap me in hot towels to make the pain go away. He tried so hard!! I love that old geezer!!
oh well I will hush.......

Hi Kimberly,
I was put on Opana 3 weeks ago and it has helped my pain more than anything I have been on. I take 30 mg er at night and 20 mg er in the morning and I have 10 mg regular to take for breakthrough pain. I went to a new rheumatologist today and he put me on Gabpentin 300 mgs three times a day. I was put on Lyrica but reacted and also Cymbalta and reacted so he said we would try this new med. I am praying that it works. I also have inflammatory arthritis and he wants to wait until all the blood work comes back to decide if we need treatment for that. I just picked up my new script of Opana today and had been out of it for 5 days and really saw a difference this week. I was in agony most of the week but since I have taken it at noon today I am starting to feel better. I am so hopeful that it will be the magic pain med that will work for me. I also like that I have the regular tablets to take for breakthrough pain. That will work better than the lortabs I have been taking. Darvocet for me is like a baby aspirin. I thought that my weight loss would help the fibro but it has actually gotten worse. I hope that it is just my body trying to adjust to less weight.
Take care,
Sharon

I also have itching--constantly, but was told it was part of the skin sensitivity of FMS. I take Lyrica for that.  It helps but doesn't take it away, I'm still always scratching my legs.

Is is true we have to be off all meds for one month per Dr. H?  I have some meds I can't do without.  Not even for a week.

I take Cymbalta, Lyrica and Vicodin for pain.  I have never heard of Opana.

Hugs,

Deb

I am having LOADS of breakthrough pain lately.  Since taking the Opana my percocet is not helping much! UGHHH do we ever get a break with this crap!!! I had one of them days yesterday where  you do not get to sit down for nothing. So today is going to be a lay in the bed day for sure...
I did get two beautiful parakeets out of it though. A lady who is moving away (military) saw my ad that I breed them and brought them to me cage food and all. They are beautiful!!!
anyway I am rambling

I was on lyrcia in the past with a weight gain of nearly 30 pounds. I currently take Effexor 75 mg a day and regular vitamins and minerals. I have a lot of pain but am dealing with it the best I can. I am hoping to have Rny in December and think that once I get some weight off that I will be able to control thepain better.

I have lost 50 lbs so far and my pain has not went away at all, not even a little. Somedays I think it is even worse! Lyrica did nothing for me at all and took forever for my doc to realize it was NOT helping. Then she made the comment that I was the "ONLY" fibro patient she had that lyrica does not help. I said well then your doing something wrong cause it is NOT helping me....
Effexor I took it for a few days but I had this horriable side affect of wanting to blow my brains out thank God my shrink is awsome and listens to everything I tell him!! He put me on prozac after that and my husband told him that if he kept me on it he would have to prescribe something to help him put up with me....LOL...me and meds do not get along very well..

I, thankfully, so not suffer from this, but have a dear friend who does and has gotten life-changing results with a product called Reliv.  Maybe it could help someone here.
