I am having surgery in Mexico, and I'm concerned that the pain of it on top of fibro will be bad. Any ideas on communicating with doctors the need to pay special attention to my pain?

I would definitely go to some page that translates what you want to say to the language you want to say it in. Type in phrases in English they will translate to Spanish.. type them B"OTH on a page or pieces of paper and take them with you.. if you cannot speak Spanish at least you have in writing what you want to say..

Good luck, my sister had hers done in Mexico and is doing GREAT

Sorry, I guess I read your question wrong. My sister, who had her surgery in Mexico, and is NOT fluent in Spanish, did not have a problem. Her care was as care is in U.S.

I have seen you on VSG board.  You have fibro?  I just got diagnosed about a month ago.  I think I have had it for about 5 years, it was just getting doctors to listen.
Susan said that you have to speak up to get meds.  She told me that since I have fibro that I might need more than someone else and they would make sure I had some but they are not mind readers.  Make sense.

Hope you are well.
