Trigger point injections
I have had such horrific pain the last 3 months, and it's getting worse.
I recieved trigger point injections of steroids directly into the muscles around my neck and shoulders.
It took a few hours, but it did help. This was about a month ago now, and it's worn off.
It helped quite a bit with the pain around my neck an shoulders, but he won't do my lower back for 3 months :(
The needles that go directly into the muscles hurt but not as bad as I thought it would.
So anyone considering this should. The pain relief in my upper shoulders, neck and middle back did dissapate somewhat.
I am also now on oxycontin 20mg midday and 80mg at bedtime.
I began overdosing again like i did with the vicodin because one was not giving me the pain relief. Our short intestins we dont absorb like normal folks do.
so I am going through my pan meds to fast then i detox for 3 of HELL and then i'm fine.
My pain today is a 7. I have to say I am about to climb walls.
but i did want to put the word out about the trigger point injections.

Well it depends on your threshold for pain. To me, it wasn't that bad at all considering I would have probably stood on my head if someone would have told me it would relieve the pain.
Honestly, you should weigh your options for yourself. It is momentarily uncomfortable, but it's really not bad at all.
A bit of stinging at the injection sites, is all.
I recommend you trying it if you and your doctor feel it would help.
I will be recieving more in about a month or so.
It really is a temporary stinging, but it does relieve alot of pain. It doesn't however last forever.
Good luck..

They have a new "better than cortisone" shot now for knees. My otheopedic surgeon told me about it. They call them "jelly" shots. You have to have one every week for 3 straight weeks. I'm about to try them.

Did your Dr. put you to sleep?
I also had trigger point injections and my Dr. put them in in the office he didn't numb me or put me to sleep and I have a big tolerance for pain but let me tell you I had pain shooting up my arms and into my head so I would never have it done again. Maybe my Dr. didn't know what he was doing I don't know
I have had trigger pt injections from 2 diff drs at my pain clinic. The dr hurts worse than the PA. The only thing is the ones that hurt more at first last me longer. He kind of puts the needle in and the kind of diggs different ways witht he medicine. She injects then massages the area. Different doctors use different combos of meds too. The way I was hurting at the time I wanted the shots. The injections hurt for a couple days from needle sticks but after that feel good for a while. I'd love to have a couple between my shoulder blade and neck now but I had a epidural yesterday and a 2nd in 2 weeks.

aww bummer, I'm sorry they(the injections) dont help you. theydome
they don't last long. 3 weeks tops :(
But..3 weeks at 5 or under on the pain scale is a great day for me.
OT: my son is currently in kuwait for the dreaded two week processing.
He will then move on to Camp Stricher i believe end of this week sometime.
He is a ATC with the 10th mountain div.
Timothy JUST started his tour litterally a week or so ago. He will be gone for 12 months. 6 month intravals.
I miss him so much already.
This is his first TOD...he is so young only 24 :(
I raised him and his identical twin brother alone.
I'm worried out of my mind.
I'm assuming you or partner/spouse is in some form/branch of milary? Timothy has been at ft. Drum since march.
How do u like it there?
im a southern born/raised gal, so anything above memphis is north to me.
I hear it gets brutal in the winter up there I will send you some of this nice rainy cold wind from floirida we are having lol
Warm and snuggly thoughts..
