Are These Okay to Continue to Take for Fibro Pain?

Before I had surgery in April, I told my surgeon about medication I was taking for my fibromyalgia pain - Kadian and occasionally hydrocodone for breakthrough pain.  Since my surgery, I have continued to take these medications as no other medication seems to help.  The Kadian is in a plastic extended release capsule which I cannot take apart because of the risk of chewing or crushing one of the pellets which carries a large dose of morph.  These meds really help my pain, but I want to know if anyone else has ever taken these meds since surgery and if it's safe to do so.  My surgeon is aware that I still take them,

I take oxycodone 4x a day for my fibro pain and haven't had any problems. Maybe check with your pharmacist they are usually pretty knowledgable about how safe most meds are and they are sometimes more able to explain it than some of our docs.

I'm so sorry your in so much pain.  I think the oxycodone will help you a great deal.  If it doesn't, ask your doctor about the kadian.  I truly think it's my miracle drug.

I have an appt. Tues with my surgeon for my 6 month checkup so I'm going to talk to him. Although I think that my pcp or ortho will be the one who will prescribe me the pain meds. Thanks for the advice.
