I've been on Lyrica for 6 months and 30 lbs.  I take 150 mg 3 times a day.  I tried to cut them out, but the pain was too bad.  I haven't had surgery, yet, and was wondering how I would take it and the Cymbalta since they are capsules..

Hi My Name is Holly and I was put on Lyrica by my rhumatologist 4 monts ago and it worked good the first month my pain went down by half, but after being on it as time went by I was slowly putting on weight I gained 10 pounds and some people think that that is not a lot but after a year out from my rny surgery it was terrifying me to see the scale going up instead of steadily down..I also started to feel so tired I just couldnt seem to get myself through the whole day with out a nap.. than the brain fog was getting worse and worse, I was having a hard time remembering things even names of people that i know very well, I would have conversations and never remember having them.. It was so bad.. But while I was having all these problems i never thought it was the lyrica, I was going back and forth to my pcp getting blood tests and every other test to find out why I was so exhausted
all the time, everything came back fine. I posted on the obeisity web site about how iam feeling and someone asked what medications i was on and when i listed lyrica they told me to look into it  to explain my crazy feelings of exhaustion.. after reading several pages of blogs about people who took lyrica and were experienceing the same symptoms as me, I decided to stop taking it and after a few days I feel like Iam coming out of the fog i was in. it has been a week now since i have taken that pill and even though iam still tired from my fibro i am not foggy headed and i can function without laying down for a nap every 3 hours. not sure what kind of symptoms everyone else on this drug is having but I dont know about you i would rather deal with the pain I have than to me in a fog and gaining weight again..

Holly,

I tried Lyrica 2 different times. I quit the 1st time because my legs and feet were so swollen, hands too. And I didn't notice it really doing much pain wise.

Then when nothing else was working, I tried it again. A stronger dose this time. It was awful! I couldn't do anything, like you I was so tired. I slept all the time, And then one day I was going to store that I shop at probably every other month, I got lost going there! I had to pull over and really think of where I was and how did I go about getting there. It really scared me. I firuged that was enough....started weaning myself off of it, and the fog is better now. I still can't remember much, but i'm not getting lost! And the weight gain stoped too.

I was on Lyrica and at first I felt it worked great but gained 14 lbs in a matter of a month. So I went off of it.

I'm on 150 mgs of Lyrica 3 times a day, did you just stop all at once?  Did your doctor know that you did it?

I went off the lyrica kind of gradually went off it and I was fine my fog lifted after a week or so and my extreme exhaustion lifted too, as for the weight issue that went down also, thank god! an way i met with my rhumotologist this week and he advised me to discontinue the meds he said that he had a lot of patients that had great sucess on it but some people like me do have some problems, My pain is back but at least i can function somewhat normally, and like the one lady i was lost all the time too, was having trouble remembering what i did the previous day.that in itself is scary and i could see that getting worse and worse. anyway my rhumotologist has sent me back to the sleep clinic because he thinks that i am still not sleeping soundly, because after I had the surgery and started losing weight as soon as i was not snoring anymore i went off the cpap machine and gave it back he said that i probubly still need it, hope not.   He also prescribed me to get some Qenzyme 10 to take for the tiredness, i just bought it today have not tried it yet hopefully it will provide some energy for me.. if anyone else has tried any supplements that help please let me know thanks..

I talked to my doctor and she said  I would regret getting off the Lyrica, I tried dropping to the one capsule a day then none, and the pain in my legs was horrible, my oxycodone didn't phase it, so, I'm back on it and the pain is better, I can walk, but the scale stands the same!
