Hello--New forum for me. I was so happy to read that very few peoples fibro improved with surgery. I thought I was doing something wrong. I have lost 95 lbs. and lots of things are better but not what I had hoped for. I can live with the pain--what really bothers me and no one else seems to feel this way--Is the fatigue!!!! Chronic fatigue often accompanies fibro but not always. I've been blessed that I don't have too much trouble with it, at least not daily. If I over do or don't get enough sleep it is really draining but I try very hard to take good care of myself. Discuss this with your doc or see a rheumatologist and see if there is anything that can be done for the fatigue part and don't put up with pain if it is bothersome. There are lots of meds out there we can use to have a more painless and productive life. We really have to advocate for ourselves since so many people (docs included) still think it is all in our heads.

My sleep doc put me on ritalin to help with fatigue and it does give me a few good hours most days. I have finally just decided that I want more than just a few good hours. I have been very wary of any pain meds due to there addictive qualities and that  a side effect is always fatigue. But the ritalin has helped and the weight loss means that my body is just alot more comfortable. I guess my dissappointmant stems from always telling myself that all would be better if I was only smaller and that is not true at all. That being said I do not regret this surgery at all. This weight loss period has been one of the most 'fun' times of my life. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Christine

Hi...this is a new forum for me.  I'm just starting out with the WLS process, haven't even found out yet what the insurance requirements are for approval.  But I have had chronic fatigue syndrome for 12 years and was hoping that WLS would help with that.

Howdy, me, too......I met with one doctor but I didn't like him, so starting over with another, no surgery date or anything like that.  I have fibromyalgia and the worse part of this disease is fatigue, I can't hadle it, sometimes I'm to tired to go to the restroom.  I always think people must say that fat girl sure is lazy.  Oh well, I hope the gastric bypass will help.  I had my stomach stapeed 20 years ago and I only lost 60 lbs, another thing to put in my failure folder.
You take care and stay in touch, good luck with everything and God bless..

Jean

Hi Jean
I am so glad to find someone else on this forum who suffers from fatigue as much as I do, though I am sorry you suffer so much.  I, too, take Ritalin and it also gives me a few good hours...one or two these days, but still in bed most days.  I am waiting for surgery in November and I'm looking in this forum to see if anyone has experienced an improvement in fatigue after loosing significant weight.  I would enjoy hearing more of your story and what helps (or just a little sympathy!)
