Just want to say HI

Just found this site and wanted to say HI and introduce myself. I'm in my mid fifties and have had lapband surgery last fall. I was officially diagnosed with fibro in 2003 but I'm sure I've had it since my late 20s. I so understand how difficult it is when other people don't understand the pain we deal with. I tried Lyrica and it did help but made me gain weight and did nothing for my degenerating spine so went back to 5mg oxycodone 4x a day. I was taking for my back and it greatly helps my fibro pain. Fortunately I don't have much trouble with the chronic fatigue that bothers so many fibo patients so am grateful for that. What helps me almost as much as the meds is a big effort to keep my life as drama free as possible because the stress sets off my fibro big time. Anyway hope to get aquainted with some of the rest or you.

You are lucky to have a doctor giving you oxycodone.  I am on lyrica and although it helps, when it wears off, it comes back. I think I have been labeled a drug seeker with my other PCP. Probably the pharmacy too after having 4 MAJOR plastic surgeries in less than a year I have been taking alot of vicodin for pain.' Very easy to become dependant on it. Just keep that in mind.. Donna

Oh yes I'm very careful to keep close tabs on how much I take! It is after all a narcotic and my doc keeps even closer tabs on my use. I just love him tho because he believes life is to lived not endured. When he said that, I new he'd be the one to help me. I've also told my DH that if he ever thinks I'm messing up with it to drag me kicking and screaming if neccesary to treatment. I think I'm just so grateful to have the pain relief that I'm extra vigilant about not abusing it. My pharmacy is pretty much the same way they act like the drugs are there to help us and why deny someone pain relif. Guess I'm just very blessed. Wish everyone could have these kind of people in their lives.
