fibromyalgia and Lap-Band
Thank you, thank you all of you for responding to Jessie2008 . My name is Cindy and I am waiting to have WLS. I too have fibro and have been terrified about the pain following surgery. My 10% weight loss is coming off very slowly. I think that it is more than likely because my activity level is so low.
I have Fibro and Rheumatoid Arthritus, I am 55 and I had Lap-Band surgery on April 24th of this year. My Fibro is no worse for the band..The band was not painful to get..your a little sore for about three days in the tummy area. Your body does not reject the band..It works...I have lost 37 lbs. and have not started exercising yet..but i am getting around alot better. Yes I still hurt, Fibro is a cruel beast.....and I asked to go off Prednesone for my RA months before my surgery..Gained too much weight.. I take Methatrexate for my RA, but I don't think it is working...I see my Rheumy tomorrow...We'll see, actually Valium in small doses has helped..I have alot of trouble sleeping..I get restless leg and feet...and my feet sometimes go numb, and I have to keep moving them and then I can't sleep which makes the Fibro worse.....I am hoping weight loss helps...But I am not sorry at all I got the band.
Hello, I am hoping to have a gastric band fitted, have to see my Dr first. I have Hypothyroidism and Fibro and liver dysfunfunction. I have gained at least 5 stone since having my last child in 1999 (making me 15 stone). Im joke saying its just baby weight Im trying to get rid of. Everything I go to the Dr about they say its the Fibro. My knees, hips, elbows and back are just unbearable with the pain and I have used a crutch for walking now for the past 5 years. I am going to see my liver Dr within the next few months so I am going to plead my case with her. Its been very good for me reading the postings on this to see what to expect after surgery, if Im lucky enough to get it! I dont think people realise how debilitating Fibro is, but weightloss can only help surely? not only physically but for self esteem issues too. Thanks for this great site, I feel better just posting this now!
Bye for now.
