pain managment clinics

Just wanted to put some feelers out to see if any of you have been to a pain clinic for your Fibro. My doctor is sending me to one to see if we can ease the pain of this flare up that won't go away. Sorry, but my experience isn't a good one.  I was treated like a hypochondriac (sp) who just wanted some narcotics.  Not a good experince at all, hope yours is better. darlene

Thanks for the input Darlene, I do appreciate it. I was looking for the good ,bad and ugly . I am sorry your experience was bad. Let's hope I have a good experience.  That makes the stress we are under that much worse when people make us feel guilty for being in pain from Fibro. As if it isn't punishment enough to be going through it, then the misinformed and insensitve strike again.                                                                    Phyllis

I was sent to one a few months ago & have been seeing the Dr there exclusively ever since. I just love her! I love them, they dont treat me like a 'hypo' at all, thank god! I was so worried about that, seeing as how i have been on Vicodin for so long! But she listens to me, REALLY listens to me. And people in chronic pain are the ONLY people they see. They do have some rules though, pee in a cup when requested, go to phsyical therapy when ordered, & they have a 3 strikes your out policy re: drugs. She has tried me on everything but the final 2 'heavy hitters'. We are back to the Vicodin for now. Anyways.....long story short, I love it! Angelic

Hi Angelic, Thanks for your input, it all helps. It sounds like you have been through the ringer with meds lately. I hope you find some relief wtih the new changes. Hopefully, this clinic I am being sent to can offer me some help. I know it means everything when medical professionals listen to you and believe that we really are in pain and it is not all in our heads.                                                     Thanks Again, Phyllis
