methdone
Hi there, I am new to the fibro board but I can answer your question. I have been on Vicodin for other reasons for about a year (I had an ovarian tumor but that's another story). I have never felt dependent on Vicodin until the last month or so when my fibro got really bad. Now my neurologist has taken me off Vicodin and put me on a combination of Lyrica and Methadone. When he told me Methadone, I was really shocked and scared. But I have checked up on it and it is far less addicting than Vicodin.
But... I have only been on the Lyrica/Methadone combination for a week and it doesn't seem to be working. Although my neurologist is ramping me up on the Lyrica to a higher dose over the next few weeks. I will keep you posted though. BTW, I am also on Effexor XR and Wellbutrin for depression, then at night take Seroquil and Ativan at night to help me sleep. I am seeing another doctor in a week or so who is a pain management specialist and will review all my meds in one big picture.

Wow, you sound alot like my, & my situation! I actually quit the methadone, because I was haveing a bad reaction to it (what else is new!) I also take serequel, abilify, xanax, & lamictal at nught. mt dr also decided to up mu lyrica to an extra 100mg a day, 700mg total. I too feel like i am alittle dependant to the vicodin, but i have tried everything else, to no avail, so, it always takes me back to vicodin! I GIVE UP! Actually, the phentenal (sp) patch is my next try, but she is leery about doing that because she says "its such a hard drug for such a young girl'. WHATEVER! You live with this major pain every frickin day then tell me that!!!! Sorry. Thanks for your thoughts, its cool how much they are like mine!
Sincerely,
Angelic
I was on the fentanyl patch last spring when I was going through the pain of my ovarian tumor. It works well but once I went off it (I went off it cold turkey, not necessarily the best thing to do) I pretty much had a full blown nervous breakdown. I ended up being off work for five months. Ugh, but like you said, we're in this horrible pain, what are we supposed to do?
