New to this board, but not to fibro. Have had it 25yrs. I was neonatal nurse for 30 yrs, but had to take early retirement at age 55 due to the pain and fibro fog. I like others I have read here on board were told losing weight would help with the pain. For me right now it seems worse. Bones I forgot I had seem to get aggrivated easier now. I live in Gig Harbor,Wa.,so the weather affects me a lot, since we are human barometers now. I get b-12/lidocaine inj. into trigger points and sometimes end up with 30 inj. at a Dr. visit. They do seem to help tho. Sometimes i need cortisone inj. deep into joints and muscles as nothing else works. Right now I'm having bad flare. My neck, left shoulder and left arm are very tender. Dr. put me on Percocet, fentynyl, and increased my tramadol, which aren't helping. Dr. cortisoned me in neck, spine.shoulder and arm yesterday. Today very sore at those sites. If I sit or lie still pain will ease up, but if I do anything, like dishes, even shampooing my hair the pain gets unbearable. So I was wondering what some of you take or do when you get flares like this? Even after 25 yrs of this stuff it's a ongoing learning process as what to do. Any advice greatly appreciated. I will not give up my life to this ugly syndrome. My gbs was the best thing I've done for myself in years and I want to enjoy my new life without feeling like a failure due to fibro. Gentle hugs ((())) to all of you. Take  care, Kathy

Hi Kathy, sadly I deal with military docs who do not believe Fibro should be treated with any narc.  so I struggle alot to get meds and to get pain undercontrol!  I hate it!

Welcome! Sorry to hear of your bad flare. Im on Fentanyl and Lortab now but also have a ruptured disk. I am looking forward to healing and enjoying life as I had planned to do after GBS. I wanted to ride rolller coasters, white water raft and all sorts of fun stuff. Im tryin to talk my self into not letting this control me. Some days that works , some not. Im so grateful for my surgery too, may not be walkin w/o it. Hugs! Shannon

Thank you all for the great replies! Gentle Hugs (((()))) Well the pain worsened, so now they say I have rediculopathy, neuropathy. Guess I did it when I couldn't wait for my hubby to help me move Christmas storage bins. Poor mechanic movements. Pinched nerver in neck, pulled muscles in shoulder, arm. And of course fibro. flared big time. So now in PT, getting traction, and streching excercises. Not helping as yet, but hopefully will soon. I feel so frustrated. Can't do much of anything without pain. Take care, Kathy
