Hi all I am in severe pain in my hands.....I was recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.  But I can't get into see the Rhuematologist until 3:30 this afternoon.  The only thing that has ever helped my pain is high doses of Ibuprofren.  But, is this something I can call my surgeon about?  Or do I try to reach out to the Rhuematologist.

Thanks All

Sorry for the late response. Hope your visit to the rheumo went well. If rheumo or any other type dr gives me a drug that is questionable I always call my surgeons office. When I fill out paperwork for any dr I include NSAIDS on the allergy list as a precaution. I lived on ibuprofen pre op. Today I am on alot of narcotic med but fibro and also a ruptured spine disk.  Hoping when the disk is fixed it may be different or at least not as much. Hope to hear good news from you about getting you some help with this dreadful pain we can have. Shannon Welcome to the board too!

Thanks for the support!  It was a useless visit and I am more confused than when I went.  The doctor sent me to annuerologist who sent me for some tests.  One of which was a glucose tolerance test which made me deathly ill.  I mean you name it i was doing it from vomitting to cold chills.  But, now I go for an MRI tomorrow and I hope they have some answers.  I can't keep up at this pace. But again thank you for your response.

I'm sorry your doctor's appt didn't go well.  Have they tested you for rheumatoid arthritis?  I have a good friend that has that and complains with her hands hurting.  Just an idea to ask them to check for that.  I also have fibro and have been on Lyrica for several weeks and it has really worked great for me.  Ask them to let you try it and see how it works for you.  It's the first FDA approved treatment for fibro.  Let us know how things are.  I'll be praying for you and hoping you find an answer soon.
