We've had her to specialists, had a ton of tests done.....for 3 years now...since she was 16, she's been in alot of pain, they've ruled out arthritis, and can't actually find anything to link this pain to...One dr mentioned fibromyaligia, but said she's too young for it.  My aunt has fibromyalgia, and the drs are assuming that I have it too.  As far as I know, there's no actually test to have to say if you have it or not.   If anyone has any info, I'd appreciate it.  My daughter isn't overweight, if anything she's underweight....5'7" and 120#'s.   She's very active, and healthy besides all the joint pain, and being tired all the time.

Hello, ,my pain started in my 20's, how old is your daughter? when you had her to the drs. did they do blood test for  Lyme disease, or Lupus? they both can cause join pain and a feeling being tired. Hope you and your daughter get the answers you want soon, and no their is no test for firbo,  does she have pain in the pressure points for Firbo?

thanks for your message.  My daughter is now 19 years old..This started when she was 16.  She was tested for both those things...thank god it wasn't either of them.  My father had MS, and they say that's not her problem either, thankfully.  But I just wish they could tell me what I could do to help her.  Yes she has at least 11 points of pain.

I hate it when I hear a doc say "you are too young". I have had Fibro sine I was 2 years old. I have also had friends that have ad it since preschool and elementry school. Take her to a differant doc or insist that she get treatment for fibro even though she is "too young". I hope you can get treatment for her. I went through 13 years of spinal taps, blood work, and other test to get a diagnosis. Int his age, neither of you should have to suffer! *gentle hugs to you both*

they said the same thing when I asked if it could possibly be MS..My father had that.  The dr mentioned that it could be depression...but my daughter's not depressed, and she's getting sick and tired going to the specialist and drs and not getting anywhere.  Thanks for the hugs..I'll pass them on to my daughter.

I feel for her. When I was overweight I had pain for years. It was blamed on being fat. After my dr laughed and joked that it was no cushion and that I would adjust to it. Finally after many dr visits and being told that I was stressed (Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!) I found a dr that diagnosed it and referred me to the pain clinic to get something done about it. I also go there for a ruptured disk in my back as well. Hopefully when the disk is fixed I will be able to deal with the pain better without as many narcotics. I went to a rheumo dr at the closest university hospital and finally got my diagnosis and some shots that started helping some. Best wishes to you and your daughter. Shannon

There is no specific test for fibromyalgia. I believe you have to have at least 11 out of 18 tender points on your body when they are subjected to mild pressure. They do test to rule out other illnesses that mimic fibromyalgia. You can go online and search the mayo clinic about fibromyalgia. I feel for your daughter. I dont believe thar you can be too young for this. They do now have a medication for fibromyalgia out on the market. Its called lyrica. You might want to ask her Dr about it. It has helped me out alot.

Take care,

Sherri
