11/29 REFLECTION FOR THE DAY

Contrary to what some people think our slogan LET GO AND LET GOD isn't an expression of apathy, an attitude of defeatism, or an unwillingness to accept responsibility.  Those who turn their backs on their problems are not "letting go and letting God," but, instead, are abandoning their commitment to act on God's inspiration and guidance.  They neither ask for nor expect help; they want God to do it ALL.  IN SEEKING GOD'S GUIDANCE, DO I REALIZE THAT THE ULTIMATE RESPONSIBILITY IS MINE?

TODAY I PRAY
May I not allow myself to be lazy just because I think God is going to do everything anyway.  (Such apathy reminds me of my old powerless self, the one that moaned that the world was going up in smoke, civilization was going down the drain and there wasn't a thing I could do about it.)  Neither may I use "letting God" do it as an excuse for shrugging off my problems without even trying.  May God be my inspiration; may I be an instrument of God.

TODAY i WILL REMEMBER
God guides those who help themselves.

Boy.. does this one touch home for me.  I would be one of the biggest procrastinators if I didn't put it off...  I actually have thought those words..  It's in God's hands, so I don't need to do anything.  I've read somewhere...  "procrastination is like masturbation.. you're only screwing yourself.. "   I've been slacking for awhile.. not drinking, but not moving forward spiritually.  I think it's time I start helping myself again!!   So I have posted and been saying the SERENITY PRAYER AGAIN..  I need to be more self responsible!!  Altho.. I do know that I've come a long way and doing well.  I can AND WILL do better.

It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end.  ~Ursula K. LeGuin

I like the masturbation analogy, that's pretty darn good!! I think it is real easy to sit back and hope things happen on their own..kind of like WLS. We all get complacent after a while and just expect the tool to do the job as if we don't need to contribute. Like a lot of things in life. We actually had a sermon on this very subject a few weeks ago (not masturbation or WLS). He said we have to reach through the pain and the discomfort and the unknown in order to make things happen. We are responsible for what goes on in our life bottom line. Just put faith in God, believe in the power he has over our life and take what he has blessed with us and make things happen. Love ya sister, thanks for all the inspiration you give!!
