Wed: Liven up the Board Post
1) I was living in Austin, TX....actually had just moved there after living in SD....so I barely knew anyone I was at work that day....not many people were there yet, I heard it on a TV in the area....saw the second crash.....I was suppose to be going to Greensboro, NC that day on a later flight.....my family was freaked out that they could not reach me.....ever since then we as a family are VERY particular in telling each other when/where we are going out of town....it has slipped a little but for the most part we are doing good at that.....but a truly devastating day....I felt very alone and very saddened.....
2) I belong to the gym at work WHEN I go, weight lifting is most effective to me even though they have tons of cardio machines I just need to start going and doing.....UGH!
1) Where were you on 9-11? I was divorced living in Illinois, #1 and #2 were already on their way to school #3.. working on getting him ready.. then I had class and work.. We saw the second plane hit.. My gut told me what it was but it took some time to sink in.. I kept #3 home and as the news progressed I went to the schools to get #1 and #2.. During the first Gulf war we had many death threats made to the kids and our family so the memories of that flooded back... and I was sick with fear that someone would hurt the boys this time... it was to personal... The boys stayed out of school for a couple days until the school could insure their saftey.. but we lived with "rules" No matter what no one said each others name in public... in fear some misguided soul would come after us... Luckiy I did not list my name in the phone book so didnt get any "calls" scary times for sure...
2) Do you belong to a gym? If so, what one and what do you recommend that works well for you?
Nope but need too, when I did belong years ago, cardio with weights worked awesome
Debby
The boss is in class again today, so here I am to play!
1) Where were you on 9-11?
I was right here at work. A coworker has a tv in his office and I saw things unfold there. It was so baffling to me at first because it was unlike anything I'd ever seen before. Sad times for sure. *sigh*
2) Do you belong to a gym? If so, what one and what do you recommend that works well for you?
I get a free membership to the YMCA here because it's part of our campus, so that's where I go to exercise. My best thing is cardio, elliptical and treadmill. I started lifting weights but got impatient and haven't gone back although I know I should.
P.S. Annie...my daughter had a Dr. appt. yesterday and we got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the FIRST time! What an exciting thing to hear. She will have another US in 8 weeks and we'll hopefully find out the sex of the baby. Then in January I'll be able to cradle and love that little bundle. I'm SO excited and can imagine you're 10 times more excited than I am!
I loves me some hump....days.
LOL
1.I was at work/school on 9-11. I was just getting settled in when there was news that a plane had crashed or something in NY. So we piled into the little kitchen/meeting area and watched the news, then the second plane hit. We stayed glued to the TV the rest of the day. My brothers were both on active duty so my mom was trying to track them down. Meanwhile, my University did not cancel classes, but left it up to each professor.
As a side note, one of the other office aides came in (before her scheduled time) and when they asked her, she was shaking. Said her professor was in the middle of teaching and they got the news about the plane crashes. They flipped on the TV and she started crying, that her husband worked in one of the towers and in front of class, tried to reach him on his cell phone and couldn't; flipped out and left the building. I never did hear if the husband was okay or not...
2.We have a gym in our apartment complex which is free to use. I've belonged to the YMCA and to Silverlake and Gold's Gym. It's not the gyms I have a problem with but I hate going alone.
1. I was in my whoa is me period after I separated from my first wife. At the time I lived in my parents basement and worked second shift. Mom yelled down and woke me from my alcohol fueled dreams and I started watching CBS coverage of the first building, when all of a sudden number 2 got hit. I stayed glued to the TV for the rest of the day until I left for work and we even watched coverage at work all night.
2. I have a membership to the gym at work and then there is the gym at our apartment. Works is better but we are not at work at the same time in any capacity to work out. The apartments gym could use some maintenance. I wonder if a few calls will do any good?
