Hi guys!!! I have a friend going for her consultation tomorrow...and I gave her this website to check out... I was telling her how sick I am all the time...but there are also a TON of benefits to the surgery...and every experience is different.... I was wondering if everyone could list two things to help my friend, and ALL THE pre-ops, make an informed decision.... 1) What is the BEST things about your surgery? 2) What is the WORST things about your surgery? Hugs... Jen

The best thing about thsi surgery is being able to move and not be out of breath and walk and being able to wear nice clothes. The worst thing about the surgery is possibility of having complicaitons which I did for two years but I had my complications fixed plus the possibilty of getting six when trying different foods. 1) What is the BEST things about your surgery? Being off meds. No more diabetes or other weight related issues. And...meeting Tony at the local support group. 2) What is the WORST things about your surgery? Complications immediately following surgery - they were not RnY related complications and would have happened even if I had had an appendectomy. It is important to be informed and know the risks any time we have surgery. It was a rough three months but I would not trade it for ANYTHING!

Hmmmm. The best thing about the surgery is I found the absolute love of my life. She loved me at 420 lbs and she loves me at 188 lbs. I haven't taken any medication at all since surgery. I can climb 5 flights of stairs and not feel like I'm dying at the 3rd floor. I can shop for clothes and actually enjoy it! I dress up for work and feel actually kinda studley when I do. I enjoy flirting with women and totally enjoy the attention I get. Of course I continually know that if they saw me with my clothes of they'd run for the hills screaming. But not my wife! She lives every wrinkle and fold. I don't think it's so much that I "got my life back" as that I am alive again period. My career has excelled because I have my confidence back and I have more hobbies than I can count. My day starts and ends with the possibilities that I thought were lost as a morbidly obese person. I was so misserable and lonely. Now I am happy and content and a male **** with limits! Bad part of surgery: ...........................thinking...................................still thinking..................................I just can't come up with anything. It's all been possitive! There are so many best things, it would take too long to list it all. Let's just say that before surgery I was still waiting for my life to start. I was nearing 40, single, and took care of cats. Now... I feel like I HAVE the life I want (though it makes me insane at times), and I am now married, have 2 stepkids, Daniel, and course the soon-to-be member due in October. Bad.... I've been lucky. I haven't had terrible side effects. Just normal stuff like dumping, some vitamin issues, etc. The only "bad" for me (if you can even call it that) is the realization that I STILL have to TRY to maintain my weight or lose... cause my brain wants yummy things. But even then, it is still a "good" really. Before, when I wanted to lose weight, I could do everything rigth and not lose much or gain back quickly. In short, efforts didn't work. NOW, when I want to lose weight, I can do those things -- and it WORKS -- just like "normal" people.
