Maria's Beanslug/Peanut update

Beanslug has grown into Bean-Peanut. I can't belive that I am still just (today) 10 weeks along. How do I manage to know to pee on a stick so soon? I guess I get symptoms really early... cause it felt to me like I waited weeks before I finally got the courage to test. ANYWAY... I had my first doctor's appointment with the high-risk OBs at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore today. When I found out I was preg, I applied (yes, applied) to be a patient there. After an application and a couple phone interviews regarding my history, I was accepted as a patient. (Well... I would think so, really. I mean, I know there are ladies out there that are more high risk than I am... but... yikes. Just the RNY and my "advance maternal age" -- as they INSIST on saying over and over and over -- and the loss of Steven is enough in my book....) So... though I had an ultrasound at a normal OB office couple weeks ago to basically confirm the pregnancy and such, she is no longer my OB as Johns Hopkins wants you there and only there. Today I had a rather routine visit. The perinatologist (sp?) did an "unofficial" ultrasound just for my peace of mind, and took some more history. She is hopeful that this time around will be less difficult due to one baby -- even though I am of "advanced maternal age." And, though the next appointment is not scheduled until April 21, if I feel uneasy or such I can schedule to come in earlier. Sounds like they are used to dealing with paranoid pregnant women. Especially those of "advanced maternal age." Did I mention they keep telling me I am of "advanced maternal age." Anyway.... so here is a sono today of Beanslug who has now grown into Bean-Peanut. Not nearly as cute as Beckie's baby pic -- but golly.... what would be?? Mallory and Madylyn are both so gorgeous it is almost silly. Ok.. So here is today's pic: http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b134/mariajl/Misc%20Hosted%20Pics/Sonomarch252008.jpg .

You know, I'm not sure. I think over 35 is another category. And then over 40 is probably the nasty phrase.

Me not hanging on the board so much I somehow missed the original post with the "official" announcement. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you. Advanced maternal age, darn that is harsh... I will keep you and your family in my prayers for a healthy and full term pregnancy and a safe and healthy birth. Good luck with everything. I need to start reading these messages more.... Deanna

Did Bean-Peanut move around very much during the ultrasound? I actually had my first ultrasound at 10 weeks and she was moving - kicking and waving so much the doc couldn't get an accurate heartbeat. Other than a healthy baby have you thought about what you want [boy or girl]? Seeing pictures of your little boy make me want to have another baby so maybe I could have a boy...but I am not sure pregnancy is for me...lol
