I feel so....cultured
So the opera was WONDERFUL!!!! It was done in italian but of course had a screen with english subtitles. The scenery was all done on printed screens instead of a "hard" set which means actual planks and walls to put up...everything was basically painted on a silk screen and the detail was unbelievable!
The soprano that played Leonora would absolutely make the hair on your toes curl! Her voice was just unbelievable! So was the tenor who played her love interest Don Alvaros, wow I would almost out him in the same category as Placido Domingo or Mario lanza (both of which *personally* I think has a better voice then Pavarotti).
All in all it was fantastic I have ALWAYS wanted to go see a live opera and finally got my chance. My next opera will be CARMEN. I ALWAYS wanted to see that in person. Martin enjoyed himself too although I think he was more impressed with the restoration of the Tennessee theatre then the opera. He went there alot as a kid so it really brough back memories for him to be there. I was really upset though to find out that Gordon Lightfoot was performing there tonight! *stamping foot*
I LOVE Gordon Lightfoot! Maybe I can pop on another radio program and score free tickets before 8:00pm today!
Oh how cool...so glad you had a great time...I have a lot of respect and admiration for opera although it is not my favorite form of art....I went to one in college and it was wonderful too....and it was in english....there would be no way I could get Nate to go I am sure....I was going to take him to A Christmas Carol (ballet) at Christmas and he said he would go just for me and my mom but we did not end up going....
Glad you had a great time and I think Gordon Lightfoot is great too....
Loves,
Annie
