Ignorant & Uninformed (Me)
A form of torture that has been performed by the US on capitves...check youtube I think you will find a an example of it being perfomed. An ex-military guy had it done to him by other military guys and then posed the question Is this torture? As apparently the Bush Admin is stating no it's not and its okay to use on POW's as a means of collecting info.
Here's a link that will give you more info on percisely the nature of how it's done:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterboarding
I saw a "demonstration" of this on a documentary on HBO about the Iraqi POW'S they have used it at Guantanimo Bay and other military prison installations. It is horrible to watch.
From what I understand they tie a persons feet spread eagle and hands spread eagle on a board then tilt the board with the person's head aiming down..the person is facing up but they have a cover over there head.
Then water is poured on the person's face and of course this water goes up their noses, down their throats etc. so the person is basically drowning. They do this to get "information" from prisoners.
Vietnam was the first installations to use it (The north vietnamese used it on US and south Korean POW's, but they didn't stop most of the time until the person was dead and took their time doing it so the person suffered as much as possible).
It is cruel, no question about it. Of course one doesn't know what type of torture any captured POW'S are facing in Iraq either, but cruelty is cruelty I don't care who you are. There is no justification for it, okay well I can see using it on these sickos that murder children or commit other horrific crimes...but of course THEY have rights gimme a friggin' break!
