I have a question to ask those of you in the computer world know. The notebook I ordered has Windows Vista. The other choice I had marked had XP on it. I've heard good and bad things about Vista. So, I have 2 or 3 questions. 1. What are the cons about Vista? 2. Is it much different from XP as far as manuevering the internet and sbc email? 3. Given the two notebook choices (couldn't go for the 3k one), did I make a better choice getting the more current Windows package? And although it was high on my list, the flamingo pink color is not why I chose the notebook I got. Liz in safe mode hell

Vista is slow and unresponsive, locks up and has multiple bug problems. My company had put vista in as well, we just "downgraded" back to XP as It would not work with our software. Vista is Crap basically a lot of software companies have now started offering computers with XP on them instead of phasing it out like they planned.

Dang it...that's what I thought. Well, I'm stuck with it until the computer arrives. I guess I'll try it out and if it isn't good for me, I'll return it. Thanks!

What type of Internet connection do you have? DSL? Cable? I know at my job I cringe when someone says they have Vista. It doesn't seem to work properly with a PPPoE connection, people have problems getting to some web pages for no explainable reason...and it doesn't play nice with the modems our company supplies...they modem we currently issue is supposed to hold the user info like a router would but often with Vista we have to put them in bridge mode and set up a connection icon... Personally I would see if I could "downgrade" to Win-XP on the laptop...but that is just me.

I've got SBC global dsl. Now, I did also order a router with my new computer so it could be "wireless" inside the house. It didn't cost that much extra. Sadly, I have no clue what a "bridge mode" is. I'm a novice computer person using it to primarily go surf and email. A few other things at work, but at home that's it. This new notebook didn't give the downgrade option, but I asked. I guess I'm just going to see how it works. Thanks!
