Just now saw this on Yahoo.. and thought how sad.. we know of these things.. but still sad to hear and read about. I just wish these men and women can get the support they need when they come home (after serving).. not just when they are fighting. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071108/ap_on_re_us/homeless_veterans thought of you Sparkie.. since you probably see alot first hand working at VA.

I can't even begin to tell you how horrible our society is that we put idiots like britney spears, paris hilton and the lindsey lohans on pedestals yet these guys are brushed under the rug.. These men and women who put their lives on the line are nothing to our society yet those dolts are... its wrong and pathetic of our nation.. I am sure what I just wrote will **** someone off and if it did to bad Debby

Just another shining example of how fu@#^& up this " Administration " and Country is. Lets all wave our flags, pat these folks on the back, send them off to get killed and maimed, then let 'em fall thru the cracks when they get home. Guess who doesn't have to worry about " falling " thru cracks ? These kids...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3inspkrGVbw

Very sad!!!! However, I just don't understand why some of these people aren't in programs. Being a single parent for so many years, I myself, have had to use a number of programs and get assistance with many things. I have lived in a homeless shelter. I have waited in lines to get free diapers. I have gotten food boxes. I have had help with Thanksgiving and Christmas. The homeless shelter I was in had a HUGE program that could really MAKE someone become something in life. It was 3 months free stay, including housing, utilities, food, toiletries, clothes, daycare, etc... EVERYTHING..... Then, after the 3 months was up, you could move to the transitional area, in which I paid $300.00 a month for all the same benefits. It allowed me to get a car, and eventually buy a home for me and my kids. There were a ton of people in the program, but it was designed to allow you to succeed if you wanted to succeed. There has to be programs like that all over the country, not just here in AZ. I would think that some of these people just don't know that help exists.

YOU and I.. have not walked in their shoes of fighting in a war.. blowing up things and people.. seeing friends die.. so I don't know their mental stability.. depression.. despair.. hopelessness. I know you being in a shelter must have felt some twinge of sadness for the state you were in. You fought back and found your way to a stable life. *thank GOD*. But I can't imagine.. being so mentally distraught from war and then to come home to find no work.. dependent on family.. start drinking or using drugs.. to cover those feelings.. OR not drink and use drugs, but just can't find work and have NO family to lean on during hard times.. and have nothing. I hate it.. but I can see how it can happen.. and it's sad. The human spirit gets broke and even if help is available they can't fix the spirit. It will take alot of assistance from US.. and a few miracles from GOD. IMO.. and I do believe in miracles
