My life as an Ax Muderer

Worried a large maple tree might fall and damage the house, I paid a ENORMOUS amount of money to have it taken down. Unfotunately, I was left to split the wood. In a delusion of granduer, I decided renting a log splitter was frivolous and splitting it by hand would be good exercise. Week 1 - Very nice ax from Lowes lasted 1 day before giving up the farm. Lowes took it back. Upgraded to Fiskar's ax from Sears Week 2 - Mr. Fiskars did a good job; however, I broke the unbreakable handle this morning. Sears took it back (although I got a lecture about not hitting the handle with a sledge hammer). On the way to dinner with Teacher's family, I realized I am a double ax murderer!! On the bright side, I have a boatload of firewood stacked for seasoning. Next year, I am not going to have burn any oil. The bad news, another week's worth of wood to split.

LOL Funny how we just ain't as young as we used to be. I grew up in the Sierra Nevada's and we were not rich so every summer there was a lot of wood cutting and splitting. I became very proficient on the ass end of the spliiting maul and axe. I tried it at a much older age and well lets just say I hurt man. I really hurt. Let me tell ya the thought of "I make this much an hour and having someone else do it would cost this much". Old age sure changes your perspective on things.
