One year down!
It has been one hell of a year!
More than a year ago I decided that my life and my health needed a major change for the better, so I chose to have gastric bypass on my fortieth birthday as a gift to myself.
This gift has kept on giving. I'm one hundred pounds lighter and five pounds from goal weight. I feel healthier and happier than I've been in more than ten years. This summer I left a caretaker role (caring for an ailing parent - don't worry, my sister has stepped in and is taking care of my Mom) that I've filled for the past nine years to move to another state and begin work on a graduate degree.
I have taken more leaps of faith in the past year than I have in the past ten year. I am less afraid to live life and be happy.
It has been one hell of a year!
Thank you all for showing me so much kindness and support these past twelve months
You have done SO well Gladys. Be sure to give yourself a pat on the back!
You look fab and I'm sure those last five pounds will come off just not as quickly or easily as you would like.
Hope we are able to plan a meeting sometime soon. Jay and I have joined a couple of groups on meetup.com... a movie meetup and a dining out meetup. If you think you might be interested in joining us for the next one let me know. I know the dining out meetup is getting together in Royal Oak on September 28th at a place called Bastone. It's a nice casual place and moderately priced. If you'd like to come as our guest PM me and I will add you on as our guest. If you like it and want to join on your own after that, you can register yourself as a group member and they will email you when the group plans their next event.
We've been to two of the movie meetups so far and had an excellent time and met some really nice people.
