Songs that have meaning to you.....
I have so many different songs in my Sansa *IPOD competition*
One of the artists is John Hiatt... Love him.. anyway.. There is a song he does about his Daughter that Jonathan always says "this reminds me of Mallory" and he sings it to her but changes it to say Mallory instead of Georgia Rae....
Georgia Rae Lyrics
Artist(Band):John Hiatt Review The Song (0)
I know a girl, mess with your mind,
She'll come to you in the summer sometime
She'll talk about things you don't understand,
But you better stick to the matters at hand
Before the whole damn thing unwinds
She is beautiful, she is small
She don't wanna play basketball
There's no tellin' what she might do
Before her doin' days are through
But right now she can't even crawl
Georgia Rae, OK, Georgia Rae
Georgia Rae, baby what'd I say Georgia Rae
C'mon Georgia Rae
Your mother and I we did this act
In some hotel 'bout nine moths back
Now, it's love that brings you here
A love that will not disappear
Georgia, honey, you can count on that
Georgia Rae, OK, Georgia Rae
Georgia Rae, baby what'd I say Georgia Rae
C'mon Georgia Rae
We were tired, should've been sleepin'
But, like a fire, somethin' came creepin', creepin', creepin'
Your brother and sister don't understand
How your tiny feet and your tiny hands
Could carry the weight of a thousand earths
Into our little universe
But, Georgia, we all think it's grand
Georgia Rae, OK, Georgia Rae
Georgia Rae, baby what'd I say, Georgia Rae
C'mon Georgia Rae
(Instrumental as it fades, he then sings):
Lucky for you child, you look like your momma....
Do you have any songs that remind you of someone, some place, etc?
This is Dakota's song...we will be dancing at my wedding to this. it's called Super Boy written and sung by Adrien Belew. He is a "guitar god" as Jay would say, one of the few I can tolerate and has played with some amazing people like Frank Zappa, King Crimson, The Talking Heads, David Bowie, Laurie Anderson, Paul Simon and Trent Reznor. I think he rocks.
I see you as a real live superboy
Wide-eyed at a world brand new
Can't wait to get your hands in the machinery
Make me think there's nothing you won't do
Welcome here, dear fearless superboy
Never bother with the training wheel
Off the sidewalk to the middle of the street
Look ma, no hands, no feet
You're on a roll, you can't relax
A solid gold prize in your crackerjacks
Fly little superboy
I know you are a bonafide superboy
Looking through me with those x-ray eyes
No problem at the bottom of the ocean
Blasting off for the open skies
Welcome here, dear fearless superboy
We hope it was a pleasant flight
Touching base on the blue-green face
Another trip at the speed of light
Be patient son, we know you're bored,
Living here amongst us dinosaurs
Shine little superboy
Cathy's Clown by the Everly Brothers. It is about a boy that has been dumped by Cathy, he is the clown. It has always been a song that I love to hear because of it's classic sound. Don Everly wrote the song in 15 minutes and then called his brother Phil and said I have just written our next 1,000,000 selling song. He was so right. It was the first single ever released by Warner Brothers and the first song to ever hit #1 simultaneously in the US and the UK.
On a personal note, now that I have my very own Cathy in my life, I think of all those Clowns that were in Sas's past that were foolish enough to let her be for me to find.
Find below the lyrics and a You Tube link of the Everly Brothers performing the classic song "Cathy's Clown" on American Bandstand.
Don't want your love anymore
Don't want your kisses that's for sure
I die each time I hear this sound
Here he comes, that's Cathy's clown
I've gotta stand tall
You know a man can't crawl
For when he knows you're tellin' lies
And he lets them pass him by
He's not a man at all
Don't want your love anymore
Don't want your kisses that's for sure
I die each time I hear this sound
Here he comes, that's Cathy's clown
When you see me shed a tear
And you know that it's sincere
Don't you think it's kind of sad
That you're treating me so bad
Or don't you even care
Don't want your love anymore
Don't want your kisses that's for sure
I die each time I hear this sound
Here he comes, that's Cathy's clown
That's Cathy's clown.....

i'm in a Zep mood today so here's a couple of there's that mean a lot to me:
(this one will be played at our wedding)
Thank You:
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.
Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.
Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.
My love is strong, with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.
An inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.
And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad.
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

FRIENDS:
Bright light almost blinding, black night still there shining,
I can't stop, keep on climbing, looking for what I knew.
Had a friend, she once told me, "You got love, you ain't lonely,"
Now she's gone and left me only looking for what I knew.
Mmm, I'm telling you now, The greatest thing you ever can do now,
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now, It's very easy just...
Met a man on the roadside crying, without a friend, there's no denying,
You're incomplete, they'll be no finding looking for what you knew.
So anytime somebody needs you, don't let them down, although it grieves you,
Some day you'll need someone like they do, looking for what you knew.
Mmm, I'm telling you now, The greatest thing you ever can do now,
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now, It's very easy just...

That's the Way:
I don't know how I'm gonna tell you, I can't play with you no more,
I don't know how I'm gonna do what mama told me, My friend, the boy next door.
I can't believe what people saying, You're gonna let your hair hang down,
I'm satisfied to sit here working all day long, You're in the darker side of town.
And when I'm out I see you walking, Why don't your eyes see me?
Could it be you've found another game to play, What did mama say to me?
That's The Way, Oh, That's The Way it oughtta be, yeah, yeah,
Mama say That's The Way it oughtta stay, yeah, yeah, ooh, ooh
And yesterday I saw you standing by the river,
And weren't those tears that filled your eyes?
And all the fish that lay in dirty water dying,
Had they got you hypnotized?
And yesterday I saw you kissing tiny flowers,
But all that lives is born to die.
And so I say to you that nothing really matters,
And all you do is stand and cry.
I don't know what to say about it,
When all your ears are turned away,
But now's the time to look and look again at what you see,
Is that the way it ought to stay?
That's the way... That's the way it oughtta be, oh don't you know now,
Mama said, mama said... that's the way it's gonna stay, yeah. ahh, ahhh, ahhhhhhhh

Celebration Day:
Her face is cracked from smiling,
All the fears that she's been hiding,
And it seems pretty soon ev'rybody's gonna know.
And her voice is sore from shouting,
Cheering winners who are losing,
And she worries if their days are few
And soon they'll have to go.
My, my, my, I'm so happy,
I'm gonna join the band,
We are gonna dance and sing in celebration,
We are in the promised land.
She hears them talk of new ways
To protect the home she lives in,
Then she wonders what it's all about
When they break down the door.
Her name is Brown or White or Black,
You know her very well,
You hear her cries of mercy
As the winners toll the bell.
My, my, my, I'm so happy,
I'm gonna join the band,
We are gonna dance and sing in celebration,
We are in the promised land.
There is a train that leaves the station
Heading for your destination,
But the price you pay to nowhere has increased a dollar more.
Yes, it has!
And if you walk you're gonna get there
Tho' it takes a little longer,
And when you see it in the distance
You will wring your hands and moan.
Ron,
I've been planning on walking down the aisle to "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds Five.
I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
What if Id been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?
And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you
Next door theres an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away
I'm sorry, I know thats a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
Recessional for all three of us has been a bit harder... I'm thinking of this. Something upbeat...
Sun's up
A little after twelve
Make breakfast for myself
Leave the work for someone else
People say
They say that it's just a phase
They tell me to act my age,
Well I am
On this perfect day,
Nothings standing in my way
On this perfect day,
When nothing can go wrong
It's the perfect day,
Tomorrow's gonna come too soon
I could stay, forever as I am
On this perfect day
Sun's down
A little after ten
I pick up all my friends
In my Mercedes-Benz
Wake up
Don't tell me it's just a dream
'Cause when I've had enough
You'll hear me say,
Now don't you try to rain on my
Perfect day,
Nothings standing in my way
On this perfect day,
Nothing can go wrong
It's the perfect day,
Tomorrow's gonna come too soon
I could stay, forever as I am
On this perfect day
La la la
La la la,
Oh, oh
I'm in the race
But I've already won
(La la la)
And getting there can
Be half the fun
(La la la)
So don't stop me
Till I'm good and done,
Don't you try to rain on my
Perfect day
It's the perfect day
It's the perfect day
Nothings gonna bring me down
I could stay, forever as I am
On this perfect day
Nothings standing in my way,
On this perfect day,
Nothing can go wrong
I'm in the race
But I've already won
And getting there can
Be half the fun,
So don't stop me
Till I'm good and done,
Don't you try to rain on my
Perfect day
On this perfect day
On this perfect day
Mel,
Great lyrics but you are going to have walk extremely slow (snail pace mode) or have a long path to the from the back of the room to the front of the room to get that whole tune packed in. I guess you could just stand with Jay until the song completes.
By the way, is your son going to give you away at the wedding?
